The Cardinal Connect:
Jeff Goodman of CBS Sports reports that sources have informed him that UMKC head coach Matt Brown is expected to be let go at the end of the season and Louisville assistant Kareem Richardson could be “in the mix.”
Richardson is in his first year as an assistant at Louisville. He was the top assistant at UMKC during the 2007-08 season. After one year at UMKC, Richardson went on to spend three seasons at Drake and one season with Xavier, before joining the Louisville staff.
He has a great reputation as a recruiter and had interviewed at Louisville following the 2009-2010 season, but Rick Pitino decided to hire Tim Fuller instead.
When Tim Fuller and Steve Masiello left for other jobs following the 2010-11 season, Pitino said that he would require his assistants to sign two year contracts. Meaning they would have to stay at least two years before being able to leave without having to pay some type of buyout. To my knowledge, the exact details of those contracts have not been released.

(Eds: Updates.) By TIM REYNOLDS AP Sports Writer Richard Pitino second-guesses himself after every game. He anguishes over the mistakes he makes on the Florida International sideline, then reviews them repeatedly in an effort to get better.
Fortunately for the Panthers, their first-year coach seems to be making plenty of right decisions.
For the first time in 13 seasons, FIU might...
Rick Pitino lost, so, um, yay
As I wrote this, the people I follow online (well, on Twitter anyway, and feel free to join me there at #dmtshooter) were going batspit for the 5-overtime Notre Dame vs. Louisville battle, to the point where I tuned in. And, well, I get it: the players give maximum effort and the crowds mark out for it like nobody's business. Since the refs put...
Louisville and Notre Dame have had a knack for playing tight games in recent years, and Rick Pitino expects no different this time around.

The University of Louisville football coaching staff continued to raid the state of Florida for top prospects. Charlie Strong and his staff signed eight of 17 prospects in the Class of 2013 from the Sunshine State. Cardinal Authority has a look at the connection in the fertile state of Florida.
Our man Mike Lindsey, also known as CrumsRevenge, put together this great highlight video with clips from each of Louisville’s sixteen signees in the 2013 recruting class. Like Charlie Strong said in his press conference yesterday, this is a small class that can do big things.

Sixty five minutes of frustration, underscoring the incredible luck of the Irish, extending through five overtimes, with Notre Dame finally prevailing 104-101 in five overtimes.
ESPN was quick to designate the game as a classic but University of Louisville basketball fans won’t want to be reminded of the ordeal. If they don’t blank it out of their memory banks altogether...
Louisville basketball faces a big road game coming off of their big “White Out” victory over Marquette this past weekend and a relatively effortless rout of Rutgers last night. The effort and margin of victory in both games was on par with expectations as the Cards begin to turn it up a notch down the stretch.
Before we get any further, let’s rewind a bit and take a look at...
