Well, don't you wish every game in the AE was as crazy as this?

May not have had that kind of crazy endings, but we had some good games this year. Here are my Top 5 Games of the Season...

5) February 27, 2011 - Boston vs. Vermont
For many it was the AE Championship preview. Vermont had everything already locked up. The game really shouldn't have been anything exciting...WRONG! Vermont tied the game with under a minute to force overtime. Key fouls late in overtime gave Boston the victory in Burlington. It was the game that started getting a bunch of AE fans asking the question of was Vermont really going to cake walk through the tournament? We know the answer now. However, this game set it up that result. Why? It was the game Fjeld got hurt and the injury bug finally hit the Catamounts.

4) March 6, 2011 - Vermont vs. Stony Brook (AE Tournament)
Stony Brook fans finally had a chance to dream. UAlbany fans wanted to bang their heads against the walls. Vermont fans could only wonder. Hard to believe that a 22 point Stony Brook win could make the Top 5. However, it's the somewhat shock value. Vermont was not suppose to lose in the tournament this way, with or without injuries. Leonard Hayes was a beast. It was a game that showed how scared the conference should be of the Seawolves in 2011-12.

3) December 21, 2010 - Maine vs. Penn State
Yea, Vermont and BYU was important to the conference. However, this was the best non-conference win of the season. This was the game for Black Bear fans. The team rolls into University Park, beats a team that is 7-1 at home. A team that would later make the NCAA Tournament. It was a dominating 74-64 win for Maine. It showed that they were a team that was going to put a hurting on the conference. Only problem is, it was the only true joy Black Bear fans would have all season.

2) March 5, 2011 - Stony Brook vs. UAlbany
Two teams that battled all season long. However, Stony Brook finally had a key weapon back. Chris Martin, playing for his college career, went off in maybe his best performance with the Seawolves. The action continued to the bitter end. Stony Brook showed that they were not going to go away so easily. UAlbany had heartbreak, but showed that the ship was turning in the right direction.

1) March 6, 2011 - Hartford vs. Boston (AE Tournament)
You would think the Championship game would get the #1 spot, right? Nah, we are giving it to the semifinal game. Think about it it folks! Stony Brook just upset Vermont to reach the championship. SB fans are praying for a Hartford victory. The game is in Hartford. Everything is stacked against BU in Chase Arena. The result...A BOSTON VICTORY AND THE #1 GAME OF THE YEAR. The game included 13 lead changes. Boston took control with about five minutes left. However, that doesn't show how amazing this game was. Free throws in the end did in Hartford. However, the action and atmosphere at Chase Arena was unforgettable.
