University of Louisville guard Russ Smith is one of the most exciting college basketball players in the country. His reckless, yet often effective, playing style has driven Cardinals head coach Rick Pitino and fans alike crazy at times. However, the player who Pitino nicknamed "Russdiculous" for his absurd style style of play, is becoming a leading candidate for All-American honors thanks to his defensive prowess (creates turnovers on 8.3% of opponents' possessions), his scoring (19.6 PPG), and his ability to turn a spread of waffles and grits at into the perfect breakfast.Let the junior from the Bronx show you how it is done in the video clip above. He carefully blends a combination of butter, salt, pepper, and sugar (yes, sugar) into his grits during the process. When asked by Sports Illustrated's Luke Winn why the sugar was necessary, Smith responded by saying, "Uh, it wakes the food up...it brings the food out."What a very Russdiculous thing to say. But as well as Smith is performing at Louisville, he once considered transferring during his freshman season. He was battling injuries (torn meniscus, broken foot) and limited playing time, which eventually frustrated him to the point of packing his stuff and planning to leave. However, teammate Rakeem Buckles ultimately talked Smith out of it and the rest is history.Ironically, Buckles transferred to Florida International this offseason to follow assistant coach Richard Pitino, son of Rick, who took the head coaching position with the Panthers. As for Smith, he continues to pick the pockets of unsuspecting ball handlers, scorch the nets, and whip up delicious breakfast for himself at Waffle House.Via SI.
