The Mars Reel:
Via Big Lead:
In the big match up between Calipari’s Wildcats and in-state rival Louisville Cardinals, Calipari pulled of a rare trick we often do not see in basktball. Late in the first half, Louisville’s Russ Smith fouled Nerlens Noel, a 52% free throw shooter. Noel calmly steps to the line, but turns around as if to get instruction from Coach Cal while Alex Poythress calmly steps to the line and takes the two shots without anybody in the arena noticing.

Kentucky head coach John Calipari pulled off a doozie of a substitution at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday. However, this one wasn't of the legal variety. Russ Smith of Louisville fouled Kentucky’s Nerlens Noel in the lane late in the first half Saturday. The ref points at Smith, and the box score has a foul charged to Smith. Noel, a 52 percent foul shooter, steps to the line...
Via Kentucky Sports Radio:
Kentucky Sports Radio first broke the story with Coach Cals response about the alleged “Free Throw Switch-a-roo” in Kentucky’s recent Louisville game where Alex Poythress Stepped to the line to shoot free throw for Nerlens Noel. Per KSR, a spokesperson for UK commented on the incident saying the the Wildcat bench thought that Poythress was fouled...
BrettThe poor start to Kentucky’s season continued on Saturday as the Wildcats fell to Louisville 80-77. With the loss, the Wildcats fell to 8-4. During the game, Kentucky successfully pulled something off I thought I would never see in a college basketball game. The Wildcats pulled the free throw switcheroo, right in front of the referees.
With 1:05 left in the first half, the...

Louisville junior guard Russ Smith scored 21 points in 80-77 win over Kentucky on Saturday and becomes first Cardinal to receive the honor.
Russ Smith scored 21 points and Chane Behanan had 20 and No. 4 Louisville ended a four-game losing streak against rival Kentucky with an up-and-down 80-77 victory on Saturday.
Peyton Siva added 19 points as the Cardinals (12-1) won a hard-fought Battle of the Bluegrass. Though the Cardinals trail the series 30-15, their victory followed last spring's 69-61 national semifinal...
Kentucky averages five made three points shots per game and Louisville gives up that average on the season, but UK connected on 10 from deep against the Cards.
Not only was the game close in points, but other areas as well. Cards lost rebounding battle just 35/38; both teams with 21 personal fouls; Louisville finished with one more assist on the night 11/10; UK with one more...
As I waited around the house today before departing for the airport to catch my flight to New Orelans, I re-watched Saturday’s Louisville vs. Kentucky game. Chane Behanan is just as deserving as Russ Smith for Big East player of the week. Behanan was the best player on the floor on Saturday. Here is an awesome highlight mix from Saturday’s game.
In front of a hostile and record crowd, the Kentucky Wildcats rallied from 17 down but ended up losing to Louisville, 80-77.
Chane Behanan was by far the most impressive player on both sides of the ball. He dominated on the offensive and defensive side of the ball all night long. Early in the game he seemed to play with almost to much emotion and energy, but then again, that...
