PLAYERS: Jim Boeheim
TEAMS: Syracuse Orange
You know it’s inevitable- some meathead is going to criticize Syracuse legend Jim Boeheim for this, and give him the “STICK TO SPORTS” call of the malcontents. During the postgame news conference last night, Boeheim’s final remarks were not about his milestone 900th career victory. But instead, he was thinking about the 20 children and six adults killed in a shooting massacre last week at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown, Connecticut. It was a classy gesture with his family in attendance. He did the right thing to articulate about something more than just college basketball.   Paul M. Boeheim used his post-game news conference...

Boeheim courageous to take stand

After Hall of Famer Jim Boeheim notched his 900th win as Syracuse's head basketball coach on Monday night, joining Mike Krzyzewski and Bobby Knight as the only coaches in that elite club, he stood at a podium for one of his most hated rituals: the postgame press conference. Boeheim's petulant in-game manner often comes out after games, as well, when he is known to occasionally...

Jim Boeheim notches 900th win, cements legendary status

For some reason, part of our society’s DNA compels us to downplay accomplishments.  This has been especially true for Jim Boeheim.  Many are quick to discount his success at Syracuse because he’s only won one national title, or because of his trademark matchup zone defense, or because of a perceived lack of rigor when it [...]

There are two dynamics of last night’s milestone 900th victory by Jim Boeheim that perfectly capture his career.
