Saint Joseph’s pulled out a 58-57 win over Xavier in the first round of the Atlantic 10 tournament Thursday in a game that featured a thrilling finish.
Hawks junior guard Langston Galloway made two free throws to give his team the lead with 1.4 seconds left. Xavier then took the ball out from under its basket and threw a pass the length of the court. The ball went off the backboard and was picked up by junior forward Isaiah Philmore, who narrowly missed a putback that would have given the Muskateers the win.
Xavier is now 17-14 and might be done for the season, while Saint Joseph’s improves to 18-12.
