Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney might be the best college basketball player with the least public attention. Delaney will take his gaudy stats (20.2 points, 4.1 assists) and his team's gaudy record (21-4) to Duke's Cameron Indoor Stadium for an ACC showdown Sunday night on FSN. Delaney tends to play great against big-time teams; he averaged 25.3 points against Tech's 11 top RPI opponents. He spoke with Sporting News' Mike DeCourcy:
SN: Can you explain why you play your best in the biggest games?
Delaney: I know for our team to be successful that I've got to come with my "A" game. That's how I've been playing in big games all my life.
SN: Shouldn't it be harder to score against the best teams?
