WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) -- Freshman Devin Thomas had a season-high 25 points, 14 rebounds and four blocks to help Wake Forest upset No. 18 North Carolina State 86-84 on Tuesday night. Travis McKie added 16 points for the Demon Deacons (10-8, 3-3 Atlantic Coast Conference), including two free throws with 3.4 seconds left that helped Wake Forest hold on down the stretch in a wild final 4 minutes. N.C. State led by 16 points in the first half and 12 at halftime only to see the Demon Deacons rally and push ahead to their own 10-point lead. Then N.C. State (15-4, 4-2) managed its own comeback, closing the gap to a point with about a minute left. But ultimately, Wake Forest -- a team filled with freshmen -- did just enough to earn a win that sent their fans storming the court to celebrate. Wake Forest shot 59 percent after halftime. This was a huge win for the Demon Deacons, who have done little other than struggle in three seasons under Jeff Bzdelik. That included losses to the Wol...

Wake Forest Fans Storm The Court Because Their Team Beat #18 NC State

This storming of the court is a bit baffling to me.  On Tuesday night, Wake Forest upset #18 ranked North Carolina State 86-84, and madness ensued in the form of a court storming. I am not one to judge, and I know folks just want to have fun, but this seemed a bit too much especially with Wake Forest coming into the game at 10-7. The hoisting up of players on the fans shoulders...

Calvin enjoys WFU official

Wake Forest hosted a handful of undecided recruits over the weekend. One of the possible feature Deacons on campus was Cydney Calvin, a 6-foot-1, 175-pound defensive back from Frisco (Texas) Centennial High School. Calvin caught up with DeaconSports on his visit to Winston-Salem and where Wake Forest stands afterward.

Web Run: Officials/NCS Ineptitude Upsets Pack

We played a horrible game allowing Wake Forest to shoot almost 50% against us tonight. They average only 43% FG shooting and less than 70 points per game, but we let them score 86 against a top 20 team.

Deacs need road validation win vs. Georgia Tech

Coming off the best win in 2 1/2 years under head coach Jeff Bzdelik mid-week vs. #18 N.C. State, the Demon Deacons need to validate their home victory with a win on the road in Atlanta on Saturday afternoon. Head coach Jeff Bzdelik finally got a signature win for the first time in 2 1/2 years. While it took much longer than most of us as fans wanted, it is undeniable that the...
