Sporting News staff reports West Virginia won't decide until Saturday whether starting quarterback Jarrett Brown will play against UConn, ESPN.com reports. Brown suffered a concussion in the first quarter against Marshall last Saturday and didn't return to the game. True freshman Geno Smith came in for Brown and went 5-21 for 147 yards and a touchdown in the Mountaineers' 24-7 win. Brown practiced with the first-team offense Tuesday and Wednesday without incident, though he will continue to be monitored the rest of the week, according to ESPN.com. Smith would start Saturday against the Huskies if Brown can't play.
