With Rick Pitino losing commitments from two of the top point guards in the 2014 class in a matter of six weeks, some are speculating that Pitino and his staff will start to target other available guards. One name in particular that has been mentioned is Isaiah Whitehead, a 6-foot-4 scoring guard from Brooklyn, N.Y.
Whitehead had been a Louisville target for quite some time, but once Pitino got commitments from Shaqquan Aaron and JaQuan Lyle, the staff’s interest in the New York native dwindled. Although there was still some communication from both sides, Louisville hasn’t actively recruited Whitehead in recent months.
According to Paul Biancardi of ESPN, even with Lyle no longer committed to Louisville; Whitehead isn’t likely to become a target.
At this point, James Blackmon Jr. appears to be the only guard in the 2014 class that Louisville is recruiting. He took an unofficial visit to Louisville earlier this month and is also considering Kentucky and Michigan.

Most believed Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware might not ever walk again. However, he is already dunking after horrifically breaking his leg last season.
Tweet There was an unreal amount of support for Louisville Cardinals guard Kevin Ware after he suffered one of the most gruesome leg injuries in the history of nationally televised sporting events while playing in the NCAA Tournament. I have no idea whether or not it was the prayers, support, or just Ware’s work-ethic, but […]
Just six months after his devastating injury during the NCAA tournament, Louisville’s SG Kevin Ware is back, and dunking the basketball. Safe to say everyone is happy to see Ware recovering. With Ware and the return of Russ Smith, the Cards have a preseason Top 3 team.
Behind the coaching of Charlie Strong and the elite quarterbacking of Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville has emerged from the shadows of a feeble American Athletic Conference and propelled itself into the national spotlight.
Sitting at 3-0, the seventh-ranked Cardinals have gained recognition from across the nation as a potential contender for the 2013 BCS National championship.

Linebacker James Burgess showed up for Monday’s press conference wearing a T-shirt from his high school years with the Homestead Broncos in Miami.
On back of the shirt is an outline of four fingers with the words: Broncos, Dictate, Intimidate and Dominate.
Not surprising, given the genuflection for football in south Florida...

Maybe it’s just me, but when you return nearly 75% of your scoring from a national championship team, I assume that you’d be considered the front-runner to do it all over again. However, that isn’t exactly the case. Although some national outlets have Rick Pitino and the Louisville Cardinals ranked No. 1 in their preseason rankings, the majority have put Louisville anywhere...
