Julius Mays scored 25 points, including five 3-pointers, and Johann Mpondo added 14 to help Wright State to a 76-62 victory Saturday over UMKC.
Mays, the leading scorer for the Raiders (13-16), was 5 of 8 from behind the arc. Kendall Griffin and Cole Darling chipped in 11 points apiece as Wright State shot 59 percent from the field.
Reggie Chamberlain led the Kangaroos (10-19) with 22 points and was 6 of 8 on 3-pointers. Trinity Hall scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds.
Wright State broke the game open in the first half. The Raiders rode a 13-0 run, including two Mays 3-pointers, to a 33-19 lead and cruised from there. UMKC got no closer than seven points down after halftime.
The game was UMKC's first-ever BracketBusters contest. The Kangaroos also fell to 0-3 against Wright State in the teams' first meeting since the 1990-91 season.
