Xavier beat Cincinnati 76-53 today. Cincinnati might have lost on the scoreboard, but in the last seconds of the game a huge fight breaks out which they seam to come out on top of. Cincinnati player Yancy Gates decks Xavier player Kenny Frease in the face and he drops like a bad habit. Probably not the classiest ending to the home town rivalry, but we get to enjoy it none the less. Oh yea, and it would baffle me if Gates doesn't see at least a five game suspension for this KO. Pay attention at the 40 second mark for the punch

This isn’t going to help the reputation of Cincinnati Bearcats players; the troubled Yancy Gates specifically. Today’s incident isn’t indicative of how players on the 8th ranked team in college basketball (Xavier Musketeers) should act, and I doubt Tu Holloway‘s NBA Draft stock will be helped by this.

Punishment does not fit crimes
CINCINNATI -- Both Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati announced suspensions Sunday for basketball players involved in the brawl that prematurely ended Saturday's game.
Both went soft.

A brawl broke out at the Xavier Cincinati game on Saturday leaving Kenny Frease bloody and screaming on the court. There was less than 10 seconds left in the game when the fight broke out and the benches cleared. Cincinnati Bearcat player Yancy Gates threw punches and kicks towards Xavier player. CINCINNATI Xavier-Cincinnati is a Forever Game, not just this year but every year, the kind of rivalry game that makes legends and stories remembered for years to come.

Ohio prosecutor mulls charges for in-game fight
A southwest Ohio prosecutor will consider criminal charges in the aftermath of a brawl at the end of the Cincinnati-Xavier (ZAYV'-yur) basketball game.
Hamilton County prosecutor Joe Deters (DEE'-turz) said in a statement Monday that his office will review the fight to determine whether any charges are appropriate. He declined further comment.

I was sitting in Applebees having a leisurely Dollarnaire lunch and they had the Cincy vs. Xavier game on. It was on a TV that was farthest away from me and I didn’t have my glasses on (normally only wear my glasses at night) so things were a little blurry.
