Xavier beat Cincinnati 76-53 today.  Cincinnati might have lost on the scoreboard, but in the last seconds of the game a huge fight breaks out which they seam to come out on top of.  Cincinnati player Yancy Gates decks Xavier player Kenny Frease in the face and he drops like a bad habit.  Probably not the classiest ending to the home town rivalry, but we get to enjoy it none the less.  Oh yea, and it would baffle me if Gates doesn't see at least a five game suspension for this KO.  Pay attention at the 40 second mark for the punch Like this post? Gates punched Xavier's Kenny Frease in the face, causing a nasty gash, and hit at least one other Musketeer during the fracas, which prompted the referees to call Xavier's 76-53 win with 9...

Massive Brawl Ends Xavier-Cincinnati Game Early (Video)

This isn’t going to help the reputation of Cincinnati Bearcats players; the troubled Yancy Gates specifically. Today’s incident isn’t indicative of how players on the 8th ranked team in college basketball (Xavier Musketeers) should act, and I doubt Tu Holloway‘s NBA Draft stock will be helped by this. Cincinnati vs. Xavier is always a bitter rivalry; but today it didnâ€...

Punishment does not fit crimes

CINCINNATI -- Both Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati announced suspensions Sunday for basketball players involved in the brawl that prematurely ended Saturday's game. Both went soft. Cincinnati gave six-game suspensions to three players, including Yancy Gates, who threw the ball at Xavier's Tu Holloway at the start of the fracas and punched Kenny Frease...

Xavier and UC shame themselves...forever

CINCINNATI Xavier-Cincinnati is a Forever Game, not just this year but every year, the kind of rivalry game that makes legends and stories remembered for years to come. Yancy Gates and Tu Holloway have been in enough of these games, known locally as the Crosstown Shootout, that they should have known that long before the events of Saturday afternoons brawl. Now, what happened...

Cincinnati vs. Xavier Brawl, Kenny Frease Gets Knocked Out by Yancy Gates (Video)

I was sitting in Applebees having a leisurely Dollarnaire lunch and they had the Cincy vs. Xavier game on.  It was on a TV that was farthest away from me and I didn’t have my glasses on (normally only wear my glasses at night) so things were a little blurry. But as I casually watched I saw what appeared to be a picture perfect short right thrown by one of the Cincy’s players...

Crosstown Shootout: Xavier – Cincinnati Game Ends in Bench-Clearing Brawl

Xavier University and the University of Cincinnati are bitter basketball rivals. Just two miles separates the schools, and the rivalry game known as the ‘Crosstown Shootout’ goes all the way back to 1927. Xavier had won 6 of the last 9 against UC coming in to this game. They would win again today in a rout, 76 -- 53. Just before the final buzzer sounded, some pushing and shoving...

Xavier-Cincinnati Game Ends In Ugly Brawl

A lot of trash-talking was going during the Xavier-Cincy game today. Xavier ended up winning, 76-53, but the trash-talking just kept going. It later led up to this ugly brawl: Expect a lot of suspensions here, especially for Yancy Gates, who decked Kenny Frease in the face. At the end of the game, Xavier backed themselves up saying they were gangsters and basically saying you shouldn’t...

Why Does The Innocent White Guy Always Get Knocked Out?

If you didn’t catch it on TV because you are laying down too shot to even drink a glass of water, #8 Xavier stayed undefeated (8-0) as they beat the hell out of the Cincinnati Bearcats (5-3) 76-53. But Cincinnati did not go down without throwing a punch and knocking out the innocent white guy. Check out Xavier’s David Frease trying to break up the fight but then gets knocked...

Brawl ends No. 8 Xavier's rout of city rival Cincy

CINCINNATI (AP) Xavier center Kenny Frease used a white cloth to soak up the blood streaming from a gash below his eye. Coaches from both teams bear-hugged their players and tried to yank them away from the bedlam.

Game Notes: The 2011 Crosstown Shootout

by Eddie Maisonet / @edthesportsfan The No. 8 team in the country did what it was supposed to do to a team in disarray, as the Xavier Musketeers played arguably their best game of the season and dismantled the Cincinnati Bearcats 76-53 in the 2011 edition of the Crosstown Shootout. Xavier out-manned, out-flanked, and straight up ambushed Cincinnati at the Cintas Center, as...
