Terps guards struggling as Elon leads, 34-31
You know, last season it was the senior guards -- Greivis Vasquez and Eric Hayes -- that made Maryland special. It was their experience and poise and talent..
This season, Maryland's guards don't inspire that same fear from opponents. They don't control the game in the same way. The guards have struggled tonight and Elon leads at half, 34-31.
Here's a stat...

Notes going into Georgia Tech
Going for 10
After beating N.C. State for the seventh straight time, the Terps will be facing Georgia Tech, which Maryland has not lost to since the 2003-2004 season -- a stretch of nine straight wins.
Gary Williams downplays the winning streak, saying that last year's wins featured the outside shooting of Dave Neal and that this year's Tech team has more backcourt...

2010 point guard Terrell Stogin out of Tuscon, Arizona has given a verbal pledge to play for Maryland according to several Arizona newspapers. Where’s the Love For Sean Mosley?
Everywhere I look these days, with everywhere being a loose translation for the Baltimore Sun and Washington Post, love abounds for Maryland Terrapins guard Eric Hayes. His late game heroics in a losing effort against Duke in the ACC Tournament semi-finals became the latest installment in a series of scoring outbursts for the mild-mannered point [...]

How The Maryland Terrapins Got Into the NCAA Tournament
It’s simple, really. The Maryland Terrapins beat North Carolina early, the beat Wake Forest late, and convinced the NCAA Basketball Tournament Committee that they have enough individual talent to make their games exciting.
Even in their loss to Duke in the ACC Tournament semi-finals, Eric Hayes distinguished himself as the kind of hot-shooting underdog that the [...]

Duke Postmortem - Gary is a Great Coach
I'm not going to repeat all the excellent post-game analysis I found at Testudo Times, Shell Games, and elsewhere, but I did want to make one point:I know I keep going back to Gary's coaching, but the job he did this week was nothing short of amazing. ?We had back-to-back games against top 10 opponents and the team played two of their best games of the season. ?Not only that...

Maryland Basketball scrimmage a mixed bag
The annual opening scrimmage was a fairly uneven affair. It started with the paltry couple hundred fans who could tear themselves away from tailgating, even more odd given that the weather was so abysmal, to wild lead swings throughout the game. It is clear that this team needs some time to find the right rhythm and personnel combinations because it is a little disjointed at the...
