Josh Johnson Says He’s In the Race for the Starting QB Spot
Josh Johnson does not believe he is out of the race for the starting gig at quarterback with the Buccaneers, according to the Tampa Tribune. He said, “If you are good enough, which I feel I am, and if you work hard, which I feel I do, it will all work out in the end. [...]

BDD: Josh Johnson Was Dealing
At Baseball Daily Digest, I use Pitch F/X to illustrate just how dominant Josh Johnson was in his start against the Phillies. Fortunately, the Phillies came out of that game with a win, thanks to some timely hitting.
All night, Johnson pounded the strike zone. Two-thirds of his 102 pitches (68) were strikes. He had 11 [...]

Shane Victorino Is A Hero
The graph above shows the Phillies’ OPS by inning. Aside from the third inning for whatever reason, the Phils’ offense has been anemic until the late stages of the game. Did that ever hold true in tonight’s win over the Florida Marlins.
They scraped together just three hits and two walks off of Josh Johnson in [...]

Hopefully we are as good as the Pirates…
As the Phillies head to Florida, they hope they can duplicate the success of the Pirates, who handed the Marlins losses #2, 3 and 4 on the season this week. The Phillies have played down to their competition so far this year, so hopefully a series against the team with the NL's best record will wake them up a little. We'll see how they do as we roll towards the Marlins/Blue...

Simply put, the Mets had no chance against Johnson. He masterfully mixed his overpowering fastball with his ridiculously filthy slider and made Mets hitters look absolutely...

Payroll Implications of Marlins New Stadium
As we discussed yesterday, the Marlins finally got the OK to start constructing a new stadium in Miami. The stadium for the new Miami Marlins should be complete by 2012, which means that Marlins fans only have to suffer the horrid humidity and pouring rain of South Florida in a football stadium that has business acting as a baseball stadium. Rejoice! And rejoice, they have. And not...

A 1pm press conference has been scheduled for today to announce the retirement of Baltimore Ravens quarterback, Steve McNair. Earlier this year, new Ravens Head Coach, Jon Harbaugh, announced that McNair would enter training camp as the starter.
