SEAN MARSHALL RUMORS

Mother Nature is Even Tired of Cubs Losing

The Cubs end their eight game losing streak with a 6-1 rain-shortened victory over the Pie-rats. Why the Cubs Won: The offense continued where it left off yesterday with a six-run outburst in just five innings of play. Fukudome started the fun with a home run in the first, his first home run in May after four in April in what should be his only other start...

Blame It On The Rain

Freddy Sanchez kept rolling with his seventh straight hit in the first inning off Cubs starter Sean Marshall.  Unfortunately, he was stranded by Nate and Monroe as Marshall showed command of his curveball and slider.  It was a sign of things to come as the Pirates could only score one run before the rain delayed [...]

Boggs vs. Marshall 4/25/09

The Cubs saw Mitchell Boggs out of the bullpen last week, scored one run in two innings off the righty. The stuff they saw was different from how he's mixed his pitches in other games (mostly as a starter):We'll see how much the curveball gets used coming out of the gates this afternoon, but we should expect him to throw a lot more four-seam fastballs than what we last saw.Sean...

Delusions of Grandeur

Kansas City is focused on Sean Marshall and Mike Fontenot in talks with the Cubs about Mark Teahen. a?? That is according to a Phil Rogers article. That's great, I'm focused on solving world peace after I cure cancer, which will all happen after I retire at age 35 because the charming widow across the street is really the heir to the Buffett...

Tuesday Cubs Hot Stove Round-Up

- Rosenthal says the Braves are growing impatient and may pull their offer by Friday when free agency opens up. USA Today says "one team" is demanding a resolution by the 14th (let's take a guess on which team).A Rosenthal goes on to say the Padres have sent counter-offers to the Cubs and Braves, although he doesn't think either team will up the ante. In terms of players involved...

Breaking (thankfully, not literally) Injury News

The Big Z's MRI revealed some tendonitis in his shoulder, specifically his rotator cuff. He received a shot of anti-inflammatory and expects to start throwing again over the weekend, with a targeted return of next week during the Cards series. Sean Marshall will remain in the rotation in Z's stead. You have to wonder if this has been a progressively worsening issue throughout...
