Michigan State tops 2009 preseason rankings
College basketball in the post-Tyler Hansbrough Era: less shot-putting, more uncertainty. There will be no clear-cut No. 1 entering next season, as there was when Hansbrough and teammates Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington opted to return to North Carolina to chase a national title.Source: Sports Illustrated Submitted By: hiltigger Direct Link

InClement Weather: Final Four Harsh Realities
In case you didn't know, none of us have to suck up to anyone when we post.Often we post with our hearts over our heads (okay, this is the "royal we" as in me, or I), but we also don't pull punches in order to keep people reading. Those who still do read us (thank you!) know this by now. With that in mind, the Final Four tips off in a little over 2 hours and I have...

straight year. Earlier this week, he was named to the All-American
team. He is also a Wooden award finalist. He also won the Bob Cousy

UNC WINS SOUTH REGION FOR 2ND STRAIGHT TRIP TO THE FINAL FOUR.
TY LAWSON NAMED REGIONAL MOP.
You know what is surprising?
I am not sure that UNC actually played that well offensively. Yes, they shot 50% from the floor but the Heels were a bit off or so it seemed. The fact Wayne Ellington 3-9 from the floor including 1-5 from three and Tyler Hansrbough only had eight points...

Roy Williams & Timeouts
It should be noted Roy Williams broke with his normal policy on timeouts and called one to stem a 13-3 run by LSU in the 2nd half. Probably more interesting than the timeout was what Roy said during it when he basically challenged the manhood of the seniors:
“Hey,” he said. “If you guys want to end your careers tonight, keep playing like you’re playing...

Enhanced Box Score
Jeff Goodman? Ty Lawson will accept your apology now.
It was a gutty effort from a player much maligned for his toughness. I imagine that will never happen again. Ty Lawson came out in the 2nd half after exhibiting some rust and dealing with pain, to score 21 of his 23 points carrying the Heels at a point when LSU was making a run. Lawson hit two threes...
