When Northwestern faced Michigan State on Jan. 14, 2012, the Wildcats stole an 81-74 victory on the heels of Davide Curletti's excellent performance. Today, they face the Spartans as a completely different team. NU can only hope to gain momentum against the superior Spartans.

Northwestern sophomore Belinda Niu (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) of the women's tennis team and senior Davide Curletti (Farmington Hills, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary's) of the men's basketball team have been named NU's Hilton Garden Inn Athletes of the Week.

Northwestern senior center Davide Curletti wasn't expecting to start on Saturday against Michigan State. However, a shorthanded bench forced him into the lineup. Curletti gave the Wildcats a much-needed spark, and helped lead his team to an upset of the sixth-ranked Spartans.
