Juan Fernandez’s numbers didn’t jump off the page after Temple’s 76-70 win over La Salle Wednesday, but in some ways his subtle statistics were a positive sign.
The Owls’ senior point guard had struggled from the field recently, going just 2-for-19 in his last two games. Against the Explorers, Fernandez scored 12 points, handed out five assists and blocked a shot.

Temple Shocks Duke at Wells Fargo Center
The game got off to an interesting start with Temple turning the ball over six times in the opening five minutes. Typically, this would favor Duke, but the Blue Devils were unable to convert on Temple's miscues and failed to make Temple pay for their mistakes. Juan Fernandez scored 23 points, including the 1,000th of his career, as Temple’s men’s basketball team picked up a much-needed win at Rice, 77-70, on Monday night.
The milestone and victory came one game after another senior guard, Ramone Moore, scored his 1,000th point – but that occurred in a 77-65 loss to Texas in which Temple held a second-half lead.

Temple's Fernandez Scores 10 in Pam-Am Debut
Temple University senior Juan Fernandez helped his Argentinian squad in a loss against Canada in the Pan-American Games on Wednesday, scoring 10 points in his Pan-Am debut.
