"Every year, we do our research and there are a couple of states that basically you can't pull them (prospects) out of, and Louisiana happens to be one of those states," Meyer said. "We've done a 20-year study at the University of Florida since the mid-1980s to see where players have come from on signing day.
"Louisiana, Mississippi and a couple of other states. ... it's hard, they don't leave."
Louisiana is one of the nation's most talent-rich states when it comes to college prospects, but it has been a recruiting desert for the Gators. And UF isn't the only major power whiffing on the big-time players in the state — and learning maybe it's best to not bother.
