Mr. Opportunist Lane Kiffin, finally has his chance at, not only a Pac-12 title, but a national championship.
I've debated this inside my head for months and Silas Redd made it easy to make my decision on who is going to win it all in 2012.
That's right! No SEC team will win the BCS National Title in 2012 because Redd, who was a star running back at Penn State, decided to join a team that was missing one piece. This QB/RB type duo has not happened at USC since Palmer and Bush played. Redd decided to leave Penn St., a team going on probation, for a team coming off probation.
I understand that USC doesn't have the complete depth at the offensive line position, but they have enough talent in the skill positions to make up for this. Matt Barkley, USCs' quarterback, will throw a lot of touchdowns this year. Barkley threw for 39 TDs and only 7 INTs last season. The 7 INTs are great because the other top contenders have QB's who make a lot of mistakes.
I know that fans will mention Landry Jones at Oklahoma, but Jones threw almost twice the amount of pics that Barkley threw last year. Looking at those SEC contenders, AJ McCarron doesn't have a premier running back to help him mix it up. LSU has Zach Mettenberger who is unproven in D1 college football, and Murray is very inconsistent at Georgia.
Looking at USCs' schedule, Stanford doesn't have Andrew Luck at quarterback, Oregon has a huge amount of freshman and sophomores, and Cal might be close at home.
They don't play defense in the PAC-12. This will work in USCs favor with Barkley and his main wide receiver, Robert Woods. For USC, defense will not be a problem because they return seven starters on defense. TJ McDonald will lead this Trijan defense at the safety position. McDonald has 163 career tackles with six INTs.
I understand fans don't believe in this team because they only have 15 scholarships to give out a year, but we are talking about the 'now.' The 'now' tells me that USC has four returners on the offensive line, the 'now' tells me that an NFL type running back has joined them, and the 'now' tells me that only Florida St. stands in their way. It will not be close. USC 34 FSU 13.
Sometimes in business new CEOs clean up the mess others have left in the organization. The mess will be cleaned up by coach Kiffin while USC fans will forget Pete Carroll ever existed. See! It's clean cut leaders who look the part, but have all the dirt hidden. Examples are Pete Carroll, Jim Tressel, and Paterno. It's the loud-mouth out-going type like Kiffin who has nothing to hide. Perception is not reality, but Kiffin will be the reality in 2012.
Well good for Mr. Kiffin! You should always take advantage of any given opportunity. Given the opportunity to be anywhere, if only for a few hours, I'd love to be inside your head, Stuart. I hope this debate that took place (you say it went on for months?) didn't get lonely in there.
Tell me, when a whole team is on probation, are they on house arrest, also?
Let me look at USCs' schedule: Stanford doesn't have any luck. Oregon has some men that are fresh and some more that are soft, Cal is too close at home? Did they really think they were tricking themselves by removing the 'ifornia?'
I disagree with your last paragraph.
1)Please delete the word "sometimes".
2)Messes: (I clean every day) For those who sweep things under the rug, please know "Spring Cleaning" comes around every year and your dirt will be found.
3)Loud mouth: Maybe Kiffin is loud so people like yourself assume he has nothing to hide.
4)Perception: European Peacock butterflies have eye markings on their wings that birds respond to as the eyes of a dangerous predator. Perception is reality!
The 'now' tells me I'm done with this article.
