The first surprise of the 2012 NFL Draft, the top offensive lineman, Matt Kalil, a projected top 3 pick, has reportedly decided to return to USC for his senior season. Over the passed few drafts, top 3 selections such as Andrew Luck and Jake Locker have returned for senior seasons, and Kalil is the next in line. Now, what does this mean for fellow USC Trojan, Matt Barkley? Barkley has received the most attention regarding his draft decision. USC fans and most college football analysts feel that USC will be a top contender for the 2012 National Championship IF Barkley stays. The return of his best offensive lineman Matt Kalil, as well as the return of 18 of 20 other starters from the lineup against UCLA would be very intriguing for Barkley. However, Barkley is in line to be the next QB off the board in the 2012 draft if he enters. This will be a tough decision for Barkley, what does he want more… a potential national championship and Heisman trophy or millions of dollars and being a starter on an NFL team.

In other draft related news the first of the early entrances have begun. Headlining them will be Oklahoma State standout wide receiver Justin Blackmon. Blackmon is shaping up to become a better receiving prospect than former teammate, Dez Bryant. And he even comes without off the field problems!! He should be a top 10 pick on draft day. The next two entrants come from University of Miami. Receiver Tommy Streeter and defensive tackle Marcus Forston who have signed with super agent Drew Rosenhaus, and have put their names in the draft. Streeter has been rising up draft boards with his breakout season and combination of height, 6’5, and speed, 4.3 40-yard dash. Forston on the other hand missed most of the past season with an injury and has fallen from his original first round projection at the beginning of the season. Look for a lot more people to make their decisions this month.
