Allstate Sugar Bowl – predicted finish: Virginia Tech 19 vs. Michigan 24 What type of team is best suited to stop a running QB? I’d say a team that has arguably the best running QB in the entire NCAA; Michigan. Virginia Tech finally figured out that they could use their big 260 lb QB as a rusher by mid-season which got the Hokie’s stagnant offense clicking. But Michigan experienced a resurgence toward national relevance under new HC Brady Hoke, and they will know how to handle a QB with wheels. Tech will look to use their rushing attack and solid defense to control the clock. Look for QB Logan Thomas and RB David Wilson to run close to 40 plays on the ground. The Hokies has a pair of stud WRs in Danny Coale and Jarrett Boykin that struggled to live up to much this season, and a national stage could be just what they need for a breakout game.  Wolverine QB Denard Robinson was asked to stay in the pocket more and learn to pass first. The offense struggled because of it. But once the c...

Sugar Bowl Postgame Transcript: Michigan

THE MODERATOR: Welcome to the official postgame press conference for the 2012 Allstate Sugar Bowl. We'll begin with Michigan head coach Brady Hoke. We've been joined by Denard Robinson, Junior Hemingway, and Brendan Gibbons. At this time I'm going to turn it over to Coach Hoke, a few thoughts on the game, and we'll open the floor for questions. COACH HOKE: You...

(Video) Hoke: Denard matured as a quarterback

Brady Hoke spoke with the media this afternoon from the team hotel in downtown New Orleans. The Michigan head coach discusses a senior who will miss the Sugar Bowl, Denard Robinson's maturity as a quarterback and more.

VIDEO: Michigan Wins Sugar Bowl Thanks to Junior Hemingway's Amazing Touchdown Catch

Yes, I'm well aware that this TD catch isn't the only reason that Michigan won the Sugar Bowl last night, but it was easily the best (and possibly only) highlight-worthy play of the evening. As LVS from The Only Colors so eloquently stated on Twitter last night, "no player straddles the line between glory and disaster quite like Denard Robinson."...

Those Who Stay are Sugar Bowl Champions

It wasn’t exactly how Brady Hoke planned it, but Michigan’s 23-20 Sugar Bowl win over Virginia Tech was a fitting end to Team 132′s season. The squad that endured three of the worst years in Michigan history fought to the end on Tuesday night and came away with an ugly victory, fulfilling Bo Schembechler’s legendary statement that “those who stay will...

Virginia Tech Football: Sugar Bowl Preview

Hello, Friends! I don’t think we can top yesterday’s overtime games for excitement, but the Sugar Bowl should be very interesting to watch…even though neither team deserves to be in New Orleans.  I won’t get into that discussion here, but we have two quality teams, for sure, and that should produce an interesting match-up! VA TECH has a lot to prove.  After...

Wolverines Really Didn’t Deserve BCS Bowl Win, or Bid in the first Place

It was kind of ridiculous that both the ACC and the Big Ten got two BCS bids this year when each conference only deserved one. Of course, that’s nothing compared to #23 West Virginia getting an Orange Bowl bid when the Big East clearly didn’t deserve it’s automatic qualifier this year; or last year for that matter. The Michigan Wolverines didn’t deserve to...

Sugar Bowl: Michigan Finds A Way To Win

We've all watched those games where, if it wasn't for the scoreboard we'd automatically all know who was winning and assume it was by a fair amount. Then when you do see the score your shocked to have your world basically flipped upside down because the total opposite is true. That was last night's Allstate Sugar Bowl for this blogger. A game that saw the Hokies put...

Video: Somebody up there has money on Michigan’s passing game

Michigan's offense has done very, very little through the first three quarters of tonight's Sugar Bowl, and what it has done has hardly been by design: All 17 of the Wolverines' points going into the final quarter have come via awkward, ad-libbed receptions that looked at least as likely to be picked off as completed. The first big play came on a desperate, 3rd-and-17...
