Why even play it if we already know Texas, one play away from the championship game and shafted by a weird Big 12 tiebreaker rule, is going to demolish the slow-footed Ohio State, who lost the last two championship games because they apparently didn't deserve to be there in the first place? I actually saw a prediction of 56-7! Texas is not last year's Patriots. Tressel is too good a coach and Ohio State is too good a football team for either to happen. Click through for the reasons w...

OSU is somehow getting thrashed in the media as a bad team… I don't see it. Yes, they lost to a damn good USC team early in the season then barely got beat by Penn State, another regular season 1 loss team everyone agrees had a pretty good year.
Let me get one thing straight… I think my Horns are a better team but I don't like the political hype all the media keeps ramming down our throats. How we should blow them out and all this BS talk of a shared national title… that's just more media crap!
The article mentions "the intangibles" and I think they, indeed favor OSU. They are coming off of some pretty sour tastes in their mouths from the last two BCS title games and would love nothing more than to be the spoiler, here, and regain the respect the Buckeye program has always been known for. I am also concerned my Horn's feel that they really shouldn't be in Glendale, and obviously given a choice, would prefer to be in Miami this week. Not a good recipe for success as frustration may not always lend to proper motivation on the field.
Bottom line, I think Texas will win but the game won't be decided until mid to late in the 4th quarter. If OSU can slow down the game and Pryor and Wells can control the clock a little, while keeping the speedy Horns' offense off the field, it could and will be a great game. One all the Horn haters and the majority of the media would love to dwell on for awhile.
I hope I am wrong and the Horns have a major chip on thier shoulders and handle business.

Being a Buckeye fan I started to raise my expectations of the team after Tress took over and the bad feelings leftover from the Cooper regime were finally gone (sorry Coop). There were a lot of games where I didn't think the Tressel led team had a chance of winning when they would somehow pull a win off. I started to think that OSU would at least always play everyone tough -- then the Florida, LSU, and USC games happened. I don't know what to think of this game. Being a fan doesn't mean I don't have to be in touch with reality. I can see why the majority of folks think OSU will get beat big in this game but that doesn't necessarily mean I don't see some hope for the Buckeyes.
Mack Brown is an amazing coach, Texas has a ton of talent, and great fans. Personally I think Texas should be playing Florida right now for the title. They beat Oklahoma and then only lost to Tech on the road after two huge games.
Tressel is also an amazing coach, OSU also has a ton of talent, and great fans. Who knows where OSU would be if Wells would have stayed healthy?
As far as The Ohio State University program goes? A two loss regular season, the biggest margin of victory against the team up north, and a BCS Bowl game doesn't spell disappointment for any season. The players especially the seniors on this team made Buckeye Nation proud.
Go Bucks!

Again, close game and maybe even the best game of the year provided both teams come to play and have something to prove.
I will admit, as a Horn fan, I am worried about the outcome. It also pisses me off that, provided Texas does pull off a win, that it is somehow going to be "belittled" as a weak victory. Bottom line is the Buckeyes are a GOOD team! That said, I can still see the Longhorns being disrespected again by what is accomplished on the field.
Congrats to both teams on a good season.

OSU has the ball in the final minutes in the red zone about to tie the game or possibly even go ahead and my "true freshman" Blake Gideon has the big interception and seals the victory for the horns!!
It is only fitting.
Go HORNS

Texas - If recruiting rankings mean anything, Texas would be the national champion almost every year. The Longhorns and head coach Mack Brown are outstanding at bringing in some of the best-ranked talent year after year. If you listened to the guys on TV and if you just looked at records, you would think Texas was a powerhouse, a regular machine; this is far from the case. Of schools ranked within the top 10 winners, Texas has gone to the fewest BCS bowl games (two) of any of the schools on the list from BCS conferences (which is nine of them). What this shows us is that while Texas looks great on paper especially against lesser foes, they seldom bring it to the table when it's time to lay their chips down. It will be interesting to see just how long the faithful in Austin will be satisfied with going to the Holiday Bowl and San Antonio Bowl as regularly as they do. — miamimitchdotcom, Bleacher Report
Ohio State - The good news for the Buckeyes was in 2002 when they went 14-0 and beat Miami as a prohibitive underdog and took home the national title; the bad news, of course, is that they have been on the losing end of the title game for the past two years. OSU has amassed an amazing record and has been no stranger to January bowl games, but it has to take its toll being on the field to watch another team celebrate time after time. Many have Ohio State penciled in for the title game, I would say leave it in pencil as they are no lock to get there. — miamimitchdotcom, Bleacher Report
Two of the best programs period.
