((HT: LA Times/Dan Connolly-Mike DiGiovanna))Nicholas James "Nick" Adenhart ((pictured, thanks Luis Sinco/LA Times)), the 22-year-old Angels right-hander from western Maryland who was killed last week in a car accident, was buried Thursday after a private service attended by about 200 people.Led by a Maryland state trooper, a procession of 70 cars drove five miles to the interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park."The community honored Nick Adenhart today," said Tim Mead, the Angels' vice president of communications, who was among 11 club representatives who flew to Maryland. "You just sensed -- certainly the hurt -- but the pride in this community for Nick. It was a very nice service."Those in attendance included Angels owner Arte Moreno and his wife, Carole, General Manager Tony Reagins, Manager Mike Scioscia, pitching coach Mike Butcher, Angels pitchers Dustin Moseley, Jered Weaver and John Lackey, scouting director Eddie Bane and scout Dan Radcliff, w...

Analyzing Jason Kubel
TwinsFix takes a deep look at Jason Kubel's hitting for the cycle, and comes away with a verdict of whether or not he had the benefit of poor pitching or is simply a great hitter.
Philip Humber Designated For Assignment by the Twins
One of the key pieces of the Johan Santana trade, Philip Humber, has been designated for assignment by the Minnesota Twins. He only made the team out of spring training because he was out of minor league options. He wasn’t very good this season, allowing 6 earned runs in 4 1/3 innings. During these innings, Humber [...]
You Can't And Shouldn't Buy A Nick Adenhart Jersey
Everyone remembers the dead in their own way. Some people write songs, some people get tattoos, and some people build a simple monument. (Not coming to a fan near you.) Absent from the memorial process, though is merchandising; they don't sell t-shirts at funerals, after all. To that end, when you try to order a Nick Adenhart jersey at MLB.com, the site rejects the order. It...
A Season In Dog Years
I wonder if this is what it feels like when you climb Mount
Everest. Each step feels like a day. Every day feels like forever. With the Nick Adenhart tragedy, it's hard to talk about the
season in baseball terms. But like Tony Reagins said after Adenhart's
memorial, the games must go on. Which means we will cheer, analyze, and sometimes (often)
criticize the way the team...
Around the Halo 4/16/2009
Last night the Angels were blasted by the Mariners 11-3.The bullpen was hammered hard again. What was supposed to be one of the Angels strength this season, hasn't been thus far. Los Angeles currently has the best starters ERA in the league at 2.79 even without John Lackey, Ervin Santana and Kelvim Escobar. However the bullpen is carrying a very high 7.54 ERA. Angel relievers...
But You Can Get A "Gallo" Jersey...
After seeing the stories float about today where people can't get a clothing item honoring Los Angeles Angels pitcher Nick Adenhart ((thanks to the guy who sent the first message to Daulerio over at Deadspin)), we decided to do a little experimenting to see what we could get away with under the MLB.com system for personalizing...This was the item that stuck out to us the most...

Game 10: Twins 11, Angels 9
Maybe the Angels really are in trouble.
Dustin Moseley left the game in the third inning because of elbow problems and the Angels’ bullpen once again blew a mammoth-sized lead as the Halos were beat by the Twins 11-9 on Friday night. Jason Bulger was hit with the loss after giving up a go-ahead grand slam [...]
