I can understand loyalty towards a program. I might even respect it. But Rich Rodriguez made a mistake. Rodriguez declined a job coaching for Alabama and will return to Morgantown next season, coaching the West Virginia Mountaineers. Rodrigeuz has built quite a team out in West Virginia but I think this move was a mistake. I know he's a West Virginia alum with loyalties to the school and program but I think taking the Alabama job would have been a serious, serious upgrade.

I can't disagree with you more. Rodriguez will be coaching a National Championship contender next year. He should shoot for the stars next year with Steve Slaton and Pat White. As long as the prominent Alabama boosters have unrealistic expectations of the program, the head coaching job will be there. Just ask Mike DuBose, Dennis Franchione, Mike Price, Mike Shula, and whoever is about the become the Crimson Tide's 5th coach of the century.

Some guys like Rodriguez are just happier where the expectations are lower, WVU people can be happy with a nat'l title contender every 10 yrs, not the Bama fans, let's not forget that Bama plays in a much tougher conference than WVU.
