Boston College has unveiled a gold "Beat Cancer" T-shirt featuring an image of the school's official mascot, Baldwin the Eagle, with his face painted in a similar fashion to linebacker Mark Herzlich. From the BC press release:BC will donate $5 from the sale of every Beat Cancer T-shirt to the American Cancer Society in support of Ewing's sarcoma research. Herzlich, the Eagles' star senior linebacker, disclosed earlier this year that he is suffering from the rare disease and will miss the 2009 season while undergoing treatment. BC will encourage all fans to wear this shirt (or another gold shirt) to the October 3 game vs. Florida State as a show of unity and support for Herzlich and others in their battles to beat cancer. The shirts are available for purchase at $20 each on the official BC Athletics website, and will also be available at the BC Bookstore and on game days at the Alumni Stadium souvenir stands.
