After drafting a running back with the 12th pick, the Denver Broncos began to address their defensive needs by selecting Tennessee defensive end Robert Ayers with the 18th pick in round one.
Ayers will be expected to help stabilize a Denver defense that has already undergone a Joan Rivers-like face lift in 2009.

The Broncos turned their act around and drafted DE Robert Ayers (Tenn) with the 18th pick. According to scouting reports Ayers is
” A powerful lineman on the outside with a natural burst and very impressive pop on contact. Does a great job changing his pass rush between speed and power and uses his length and suddenness well to disengage from blocks. Has great closing speed...
