George Mason Basketball:
You won't be hearing any team being referred to as "this year's George Mason" for the rest of this year's NCAA tournament. Only high seeds remain and Arizona being a 12 is no cinderella story, especially when they were favored in their first round game. Yahoo sports talks about this era of chalk and I think it just validates the craziness of George Mason's 2006 run. You almost have to wonder if after Mason's magic carpet ride BCS teams have wised up. No longer will they look past the scrappy, tenacious mid-major starting four guards and a 6'6" center. A lot was said this year about mid-majors not getting any respect on selection sunday but even as a mid-major fan I couldn't argue much with the numbers. The mids just didn't get it done in the out of conference slate this season and nowhere was that more evident than in the CAA. At-large bubble team St. Marys was a great squad this year but Arizona beat top-50 teams and they didn't. I hope this isn't a downward trend for mid-majors in the NCAA tournament as they have provided the most excitement in March during the last couple of years.Yardbarker aggregates the latest sports news, rumors and gossip from around the web. March Madness...I'm Mad.
This is one of my favorite times of the year. I love College basketball, and I love filling out my bracket and seeing how well I do, but it's driving me "MAD". I have had my eyes glued to the television for 4 straight days. I even bought the NCAA package so I can watch all the games at once. The games are so close and there is so much good competition between under dogs and favorites...
He does it again!
Since my brother is, in fact, supposed to be a contributor on this blog, I'll make his contribution for him by posting the podcast of his correct prediction of last night's George Mason-VCU game--VCU by six. And to think that Rick Roth and Larry Richmond laughed at him on The Sportsline. Skip to t...
March Madness winding down
The Men's Final Four are LSU, George Mason, UCLA and the Florida Gators. I am really surprised about how things turned out this March as I am sure many are. Almost everyone I knew had picked Texas to go all the way and who would have picked George Mason to get this far? I am really excited to see who
Paw Prints - The Daily Roundup - 3/22
A good win for the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team yesterday as they now head to Sweet 16 for the first time since 2006 when they made it to the Elite Eight (lost to George Mason). The Huskies will take on the Purdue Boilermakers on Thursday night at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, [...]
Boring...Are You Kidding Me?
This tournament has been boring…seriously? People actually think the NCAA Tournament has been boring? Have you all gone mad? Did you see Pitt battle a 16-seed for 38 minutes? Did you watch Memphis and Villanova struggle to make it to the second round? How about the Ohio State-Sienna double-overtime game? Followed by Sienna nearly taking Louisville down? Did you witness Gonzaga...
