A full analysis into who is available and who isn't. I'll go into detail on the chances that the Eagles sign Randy Moss and Javon Walker. I also let you know what receivers the Eagles had their eyes on and are no longer available.

advantage: moss- is the only one who doesn't have a past of severe injuries and who is a #1 wide receiver eagles should jump on this once everything settles out

If we can get Moss, GET HIM!!!
  • We definetly have to at least try to get em. We can make cap space and we definetly CANNOT let him go to the Cowboys. I really don't see how him and Daunte could work out being reunited with one another because most teams around the league aren't really at need for a Quarterback and even if there were, I don't see that many willing to take a chance on Culpepper and his injuries. The only team I can think of with that situation, go figure, is Minnesota, and I don't know how willing they would be to get both of those guys back after they dissed the team 4-5 years ago. Especially since Minnesota just added Bernard Berrian and his big contract. Eagles, you gotta get em.
  • If you go to NFL.com they have a video on Sunday's signings and says the PAtriots and Moss are closer to a big contract. I still would rather pay big bucks to Fitz than moss...

Get Moss already. The Eagles are going to get nobody if they don't act fast. They need to get Randy Moss or Javon Walker before they are both gone our they'll really look like idiots.
  • eaglesfan101
They could still go after Fitz if they don't get Moss.
  • eaglesfan101
I wouldn't risk signing Javon Walker. He's got to many knee cocerns.
  • I'm not all that worried, because the Eagles are really in a good situation. Either get Moss, or trade for Larry Fitzgerald. Walker is out of the question cause his knees are shot, and Rod Marinelli said that the Lions aren't interested in trading Williams. That video about Moss only says that theyre close to getting a deal done. The Patriots made the offer, but that doesn't mean hell stay. Somebody else could outbid them(hopefully the Eagles), plus the shear fact that the Patriots have lost half their team, the other half of the team is really old, and all the spy gate nonsense surrounding them may make them a sinking ship that Moss does not want to be a part of. As for getting Fitzgerald, that would most likely be a draft day trade involving Lito and a draft pick. But like I said, the Eagles are in a good situation because, as guys like Assante and Randall Gay leave the Market, Lito's value will sky rocket. The Eagles could also make a trade with New England for their 7th pick, which would also be nice, considering New England is in a dire need of a Corner right now. I'm not that worried and I'm pretty sure that with in the next couple of days or weeks leading up to the draft, youll hear something about a trade or maybe even Moss(hopefully). No matter which way you cut it, signing Assante Samuel was an absolutely brilliant move that the Eagles front office should be awarded for. It opened up so many doors. They know they have to upgrade offense so they will do something, plus I'm sure Donovan's whispering in their ear. Something will happen. Keeping Lito, as much as I love em, is just a waste of cap space. My ideal scenario, Sign moss, cut Spikes to make Cap room, then trade Lito and their 2nd and 5th round picks for New Englands 7th pick overall. Use that pick to draft an ROLB to replace Spikes, then use the 19th pick to draft a young Safety who can fill Dawkins shoes after hes gone. If hes a KR/PR too, then thats even better.
  • Even if we can get Lee Evans, I don't want him, because, no matter how good he is, he is too little. He would be better off in an offense like the Colt's where each receiver complements the other and opens up space for the other. Reggie Wayne and Marvin Harrison are those guys that would open the space for Evans. He would not open the plays up for Brown, Curtis, or Avant. We need that big dominant, possession, receiver, who will help us down the field, as well as in the Redzone, which is what the Eagles weakness was on offense last year. Having a player like Randy Moss rejuvenates Mcnabb's career, LJ Smiths career, and makes Kevin Curtis the new Wes Welker of the league. Just a possibility, but with all the Moss, Williams, Evans and Fitzgertald talk, it seems like everyones forgetting about a certain unhappy Ocho cinco and a Bengals team that could use help in the secondary and more first round draft picks. Hint hint eagles fans :)

too little? r u fucking crazy? what about receivers like steve smith? he's not big but he plays huge, just like evans, and not only that, he's got blazing speed, if you dont think this guy is a number one, you havent been watching football, check out his stats, also, if we get hardy in the draft, that takes care of that "big physical presence" your talking about, also we're not gonna get moss, we never were and we never will, let it go eagles fans, it was fun while it lasted
  • Stickman
As of this morning, it appears there will be no Randy Moss & no Larry Fitzgerald in Philadelphia's future. The rumors are that Moss & Fitz are both negotiating enormous contracts w/ their current teams, which if you think about it makes the most sense. So where does that leave us? I am guessing the FO is exploring all trade possibilities... Ocho Cinco?

What about trading Lito and the 19th to the Bengals for 85 or trading Lito to the Pats for the 7th pick and trading the #7 and 19 picks for 85. However, you can do a lot of damage with the 7 and 19 picks. You can trade those picks to get Jake Long, Vernon Gholston, or Darren McFadden or you draft a guy like Ryan Clady with the 7th pick and take Hardy with the 19th pick.

trotter, Evans had 55 receptions for 850 yards and Smith had 87 for 1002. Neither of them were lighting it up this year. If you factor in their divisional opponents' pass defenses they should have. Speed is not the only factor that makes a receiver worth getting.
  • blitzkid09
they have to do something soon cuz the fitz thing is DEAD
  • trotter wants the Eagles to set the record for most midgets on offense. They already have too many receivers that are too short. They DONT need another one, no matter how good he is. Apparently you havent been watchin football because the main focus of the Eagles is their lack of a BIG bodied weapon, mainly a receiver, on offense, especially for the redzone. Steve Smith is an exception to that rule, but I could give a rats @$$, because his name has never come up to begin with and Carolina would never trade him in a billion years. Besides, If the Eagles did value Steve Smith all that much, they wouldve drafted him when they had the chance, instead of Freddie Mitchel, that way we wouldnt have this situation to begin with, and would have never gone through the TO drama, and could possibly even have had a Superbowl by now. Besides Evans only has one year left on his contract. I'd rather have a big body, solid long term contract, then a midget rent a player that leaves after one year. i guess we didn't learn after Stallworth. Evans is very good, but not the type of receiver the Eagles need.
  • listen cowboywin08 this is EAGLES talk not your little cowboys. and both Evans and Smith bet your Tille TO!!! TO TO TO TO, TO YOU BLOW!!!!! DO YOU LIKE THAT CHANT!!!!!!!!!
  • 5forlife
Eagles suck! They have gotten #5 no help at WR. He should ask to be traded if he wants to win a Superbowl this team is obviously not committed to its players, fans, and city.
  • Besides, who the hell started all of this Lee Evans nonsense anyway. I listen to Mike and Mike in the Morning every day, and watch ESPNews every day, and neither of them ever mentioned even the slightest glimmer of a rumor that the Eagles are pursuing Evans. CSN hasnt said anything about it at all, along with Chris Mortenson and John Clayton. No one on NFL network or WIP either, so where the hell did it come from? I dont even know if hes on the trading block. The only rumors any of them talked about were the Eagles pursuing Fitzgerald from the Cards, or Williams from the Lions, but we now know that Williams isn't as likely as Fitz. Please tell me, I wana know. Im not bein sarcastic either. Did I miss something or are people starting bullshit rumors just so they can act like they actually know a thing or 2 about football.
  • Calm down everyone. Theyll still do something. Just cause Randy Moss aint there anymore doesnt mean its the end of the world. I have faith that theyl bring someone in. The Patriots had Randy and lost the SB, and invertly, won the SB 3 times without him. Ocho cinco is still a possibilty, and nothing is definite with Fitz staying in Zona yet, plus, they may be waiting for draft day to come around before they bring that big name receiver in. Which teams take who at certain rounds dictate big trades. If that guy isnt there for a certain team, they may be more willing to give guys and picks up to get something they know they need. Zona wants draft picks and they need help in their secondary(Lito and the 19th.) and they already have Anquan Boldin anyway. Fitz would gouge Zona's funds really badly. Right now, if they keep Fitz with his current contract, they wont have enough money to sign anyone they draft. The Eagles can restructure his contract. Its unreasonable for Zona to think they can keep him, and make their team better at the same time. It would be addition by subtraction for the Cards if they dealt him to the Eagles. Be patient Philadelphia. Mcnabb was too excited in that interview with ESPN for him not to know that something big is going down, and I highly doubt getting Randy crossed his mind at that point, because it was before all of this drama started. Did any of you really think we would get Randy anyway? Come on now. Yes, it wouldve been nice and I was hopin for it, but I knew it wasn't gona happen in the end. And besides, look at the bright side. RANDYS NOT GOIN TO DALLAS. HAHA. SCREW DALLAS. AMEN.

yea just heard that but I also heard that the eagles offered him a contract worth more than the 27 mil the pats are given him, but he decided to stay there. I still think the eagles will get fitz. They have plenty of money and room they just have to move somethings around. like I said before even if they give fitz a 10 or 15 mil signing bonus, they don't have to take the entire hit this year they will spread it out over the life of the contract. Remember we are a large market team we can afford to give money away in signing bonuses.

actually jmd2789, i did watch every game last year, just like i do every year, i never miss an eagles game, in fact, i tape each game and watch them over and over again in the offseason, and actually YOUR wrong, our problem wasnt the lack of a big, physical receiver, it was the fact that our receivers werent getting any seperation, mcnabb's vision downfield was fucked up, he wasnt getting great protection and morningwheg was calling idiotic plays when we got within the red zone, dont challenge my knowledge on the eagles, i dont know shit about shit...except for the eagles and also, if you WERE A REAL EAGLES FAN, you wouldnt be a dick to someone whose obviously in love with the same team as u, you give other birds fans a bad name and u probably havent been laid in months, get over urself homo
    • mattymill34
well trotter, to take a stab in another route i advise you to watch over the tapes and judge Mcnabb's mobility over the first 8 weeks or so.. i feel that philly got better as donovans knee got healthier.. not to say he was a peach all year, but i just dont feel that first game against NY was all Justice's fault. with that said, as he got more and more comfortable (the final 3-4 games especially) Mcnabb became more mobile and began to look like the playmaker we've grown accustomed to.. thats my feeling
  • phillysports94
well so much for moss but at least andy reid offered him something thats better then they have done in last few years so its a bad thing we didnt get him but its good to no were huntin for a wide reciver ive heard fitz for lito and ive heard holt for lito and 1st rounder lets c what happens
  • Look at you trashin an Eagles fan trotter. All I do is question your taste in Lee Evans and you talk about not bein laid in months. All I did was say he was small and you start comin at my neck. Your one of those people who will go all out on gettin Lee Evans, then when the Eagles do get em, and blow it later in the season or playoffs, youll be the first to say "Get rid of em, hes a bum, whyd we get him when we couldve gotten Larry Fitzgerald or Randy Moss." As for Eagles fans trashing one another, I guess youve never been to an Eagles game, cause I got seats in the upper levels and drunken fans fight eachother all the time. I love the Eagles as much as everyone in Philly does, but the only game im gona tape and watch over and over again is the one where they win the Superbowl. I love people that get tough in online forums. I aint gona say anything else, because unlike you, Im not gona take personal shots that have nothing at all to do with what the forums talkin about, at another Eagles fan, no matter how much of an asshole they are.

"Don't question my fanhood, or else you get this. Thats barb wire. It goes all the way around. Boop, boop, boop."
