Now that we've had time to digest after the draft, let's take a look at what makes a boom or a bust and relate it to what we've learned about Joe Flacco. I guess you could say this is a positive review.

  • Kgoon, that was an excellent write up!! it was a positive review, dewey did a blog last night with a highlight reel as well. the only thing i have to say is: i've truly heard nothing but good, solid things about him. i've talked to ppl. that have seen him play, i've talked to ppl. that know him and he's got a good head on his shoulders, very down to earth so to speak. keep the faith, nothing but good things to come.
  • Great article. As TC would say, "Way too solid." Thanks for the kind words, K-Goon.

Jay Cutler public battle an inspiration to diabetics

OK, we both know that this is odd, an Oakland Raiders writer doing a positive story on a Denver Broncos quarterback. Jay Cutler's recent admission of his diagnosis of type one diabetes caught my attention as someone has several diabetics in my family.

Cutler Has Diabeetus

From SportsbyBrooks: KCNC-TV reports that the Broncos QB revealed that he's been diagnosed with Type 1 of the disease. Cutler learned of his medical condition two weeks ago & announced it to the media Thursday evening. Now Jay must undergo daily insulin shots & be extra-careful with his diet. We will certainly be praying for him, as will Wilford Brimley.

Ravens Get Giant Beating

The Ravens lost yesterday at the Meadowlands to the Giants 30-10. They were outplayed in pretty much every aspect of the game. The Giants ran all over the Ravens' top ranked rush defense. They threw the ball well, and they shut down the Ravens' running game, putting more pressure on rookie Joe Flacco. But honestly, I'm not that upset.

Ravens 36, Eagles 7: Grading the Ravens

Quarterback: B Joe Flacco had a fine game. His first half was shaky and he looked a step behind, but so did both offenses. By the second half, Flacco was making his reads and finding his targets. His pass to Wilcox in the endzone was a beaut, but it was the pass to Clayton, burning a [...]

Standings, what do you think?

Oakland at Baltimore (-7) The Raiders stepped up last week and even though they allowed quite a few yards to the Jets, they were able to find a way in the end to hit a long field goal and escape 16-13. The Ravens are also coming off a big win in Miami, and they rediscovered their running game. Joe Flacco had his best game of his career, and the defense pounded the Fins. Look for...

My NFL Conference Championship Preview

My Picks in the Championship Games today are:STEELERS OVER RAVENSThe Steelers are playing their best Football. The Ravens defense has played well, but they are tired, and Joe Flacco will struggle against Pittsburgh's defense.CARDINALS OVER EAGLESThe Arizona Cardinals have it all. A good running ...

Let’s Go Live to Ape Headquarters for His Victory Speech

I liked the part where the announcers pretended that Joe Flacco is a decent NFL quarterback. I mean, when they make a big deal about you completing four passes in a row for the first time in three games, perhaps you need some work. To the Ratbirds credit, they executed the ?hurt the player ...

NFL Friday: Cutler Diagnosed with Diabetes; Millen Slams Martz

Jay Cutler diagnosed with diabetes, Matt Millen slams Mike Martz, a Q&A with Philip Rivers and much more local hometown NFL news for Friday, May 2, 2008.

Ravens Sign L.J. Smith

National Football League Blogcast, NFL Blogcast Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco has to be happy about this. Today, the Ravens signed former Philadelphia Eagles tight end L.J. Smith to a one-year contract, giving Joe yet another weapon in his continually evolving offensive arsenal. Along with Todd Heap, this gives Baltimore two top-level, pass-catching tight ends. As [...]

Grading the Ravens

It can be a difficult task deciding what kind of grade to give each position. Especially when the scoreboard seems to imply a rather close game. Yesterday's game wasn't that close however. While Sports Illustrated's Michael Lombardi gives Flacco a 'C' and Harbaugh 'B', I gave them both higher grades. Quarterback: B Joe Flacco managed the game [...]

Flacco Officially a Baltimore Raven

Five years and $30 million. That's how long and how much it will take for Joe Flacco to become the face of the Baltimore Ravens franchise. There's been no secret that Flacco will play understudy for as long as possible. With Brett Favre rumors to the side, that means he has, at the most, this season to prepare while Kyle Boller or Troy Smith gets the nod for opening day....

Shabbat Shalom: Friday Wrap-Up

Dynasty has three new interns. There were so many qualified candidates that there was no way I could just stick with two. Congrats to the three who were chosen. I am continuing to work on a complete overhaul of this site's look, which is still planned to be finished by the end of this month. Packing for Israel has begun. I will be out of the country from May 11-21. This site will...

Thanks to the Goon

1) Thanks to Kyle Goon of the Baltimore Sun for his profile on Yardbarker and yours truly. Much appreciated, Kyle. 2) I put up a new Blogimore Ravens logo tonight while procrastinating. I'm sure I'll change it again before the season. In fact, I can guarantee it. Thirty years old (almost) and I can't even commit to a frickin' JPG. No wonder I'm still single...
