TEAMS: Chicago Bears, Kansas City Chiefs
Who you won?t see: First round draft picks Brandon Albert and Glen Dorsey are the most notables that you won?t see. Both players were injured this past week in camp Albert will miss a majority of the preseason and Dorsey will miss at least the Chicago game. In addition Kolby Smith has been battling a groin injury and may be held out of the contest. Veterans such as Tony Gonzalez, LJ, Brian Waters and Donnie Edwards should be out early and Damion McIntosh has a swollen knee and may also be a spectator.
Who you will see: Jamal Charles, LJ will be out early Kolby Smith is injured. This game will be Charles chance to shine. The big play potential he?s shown in camp will go live on Thursday. Expect Charles to return some kicks and get his fair share of carries. Fans will also get to see a lot of Herb Taylor who has stepped in for the injured Albert.. Taylor has more than held his own against Tamba Hali all throughout camp. Taylor will be tested early since the Bears boast one of the best defenses in the league. Receivers, Devard Darling looks like the #2 guy but the Chiefs have to find their slot guy. Expect to see a heavy rotation of Will Franklin, Jeff Webb, Bobby Sippio and Maurice Price.
Who?s Hot: Devard Darling- Hauled in another long reception from quarterback Brodie Croyle in Monday?s practices. Darling is starting to run away with the #2 position with his reliability and knack for big plays.
Tank Tyler- What a difference a year makes Tyler may be the most the most improved player on the team from last year. Has taken over DT since Dorsey?s injury and is starting to put it all together on how to play tackle in the NFL.
Conner Barth: Odds are stacked against him rookie, undrafted and his competition has a stronger leg and the experience on him but Barth does not seem fazed nailing all three field goals in the afternoon practice. Herm will take accuracy over distance any day.
Pat Thomas: Rose from third string on the depth chart to starting MLB. Thomas had to come into camp hoping just to make the team. Now Thomas has a choke hold on the starting position.
Quick Note: Today the Chiefs announced FB Oliver Hoyte has requested to move back to his original position of OLB. If Hoyte makes the team he will be the fourth N.C State player on the Chiefs joining Pat Thomas, De Juan Morgan and Tank Tyler. Also this clears the way for Mike Cox, Chan Gailey?s FB at Georgia Tech last year to make the team.

A.A.D.Q.: Nicknaming Brodie
This isn't going to be the most original post, considering that Arrowhead Pride has already given this a whirl once. I'm not necessarily the biggest Brodie Croyle believer, but being impartial and giving everybody a shot at nicknaming a Chiefs player who's obviously becoming extremely popular is the right thing ...
Chicago Bears Camp Confidential August 3rd.
I made it up to Bourbanais Sunday for the Bears noon practice. While practice can be boring, training camp gives you access to players, coaches and management, like nothing else. The following lists my thoughts on what I saw and who we talked to.
1. Grossman can make every throw. On every throw the ball seems to launch as if released from catapult. His throws are tight and powerful...

Ten Reasons Why the Chiefs are Cooler Than Da Bears:
10. Our players don't go all Alec Baldwin on people in text messages. Brian Urlacher, I'm looking at you.

Cribbs Says He Wants His Deal Restructured
Pro Bowl return specialist Josh Cribbs has asked the team to restructure his contract. Cribbs signed a six-year deal prior to last season worth just under six-million dollars. The request comes just weeks after the Chicago Bears signed their All-Pro return man Devin Hester to a four-year, 40-million-dollar contract. Regardless of the outcome of the [...]
Why Rex Grossman Has To Start the Regular Season
Written by Farooq Ahmed from Bleacherreport.com
Yes. I said it. Rex Grossman must start for the Bears.
Call me crazy, but in 30 starts, he has a 19-11 record. Yes, people will say that he turns the ball over way too much, but as many Bears fans know, the players around him respond to the guy for some strange reason.
And don't forget that he was "the guy" that...
If Mike Ditka had a Blog
Coach Ditka here. Sorry for the extended absence readers, I got back from Bermuda a bit ago where I was beating the hell out of something called Hurricane Bertha. Three fat assholes from Chicago dared me to do it, so I said what the hell. I think one of them had a heart-attack when I told them I won, kept on pounding his chest and stuff. I'm rested up now...
Eagles Release 2008 Depth Chart: Some notes on my thoughts
The Eagles released their 2008 dept chart, which you can view here. Some interesting notes from the chart:-- Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown are "co-starters" -- that may be a first.-- DeSean Jackson is the #7 receiver on the depth chart, but I wouldn't
read too much into that. Gasperson is ahead of him and I'm looking
forward to seeing what he can do.-- Quitin...
Chris Williams' back injury should be of big concern
For all the talk that left tackle Chris Williams' back injury is nothing serious, it sure is taking a long time to heal. Williams, the Bears' first-round pick, has been out since July 24 when he left practice due to stiffness in his lower back.
Chiefs rookie Glenn Dorsey out for a week
The Kansas City Chiefs say rookie defensive tackle Glenn Dorsey should miss about a week after spraining his left knee in practice during the weekend.

Robison Problems
Brian Robison is facing the possibility of surgery to repair a funky vein in his left leg. As Robison explained it:
It's been something that has been there for a while and it's just kind of flared up on me. I have a varicose vein on my left leg. It's something they are looking at and we went and got it looked at again today. So we'll find out tomorrow what we need...
The Favre Fallout: Pennington To The Chiefs?
