It's being reported that Brian Schneider is out indefinitely with strains to his knee and calf. While the team and Schneider continue to down play the extent of the injury, it still has to be discerning that a catcher who had injury problems last year is already on the shelf. Last year many of Schneider's struggles were attributed to his injuries and lack of playing time with the staff, well just as most of the staff is returning he is once again unavailable....Catcher Brian Schneider is sidelined indefinitely with a PCL strain in his right knee and a strained right calf. Schneider injured his knee Tuesday and sat out yesterday's Grapefruit League game here against the Braves before undergoing an MRI exam. source NY Post As for David Wright, he fouled a ball off his foot last night and had a precautionary X-Ray. The results of the X-Ray were negative and the discomfort was found to be just a cracked toe nail. Wright believes he will stay with Team USA and finish out the ...

David Wright Suffers Cracked Toe Nail, X-Rays Negative

According to mets.com, David Wright suffered a cracked toe nail after fouling a ball off of his left foot in yesterdays loss to Venezuela. A cracked big toe didn't wipe the smile off David Wright's face or diminish his enthusiasm for the World Baseball Classic. The Mets All-Star third baseman fouled a ball off his left foot in Team USA's 10-6 loss to Venezuela on Wednesday...

We needed a durable catcher...

The biggest concern with this catching tandem is their durability, last year Brian Schneider was injury plagued and when forced into regular use Ramon Castro is always hurt. While last year for Schneider was unusual in regards to the amount of time he missed, one the biggest reasons I thought it would be a good idea to get a more consistent back-up was in case this is what Schneider...

ESPN Praising The Name Of David Wright This Morning

Not that a Final Four of Cuba/Japan, Korea, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, wouldn't have drawn ratings, but ESPN has to thank their lucky stars for David Wright this morning. Wright hit a walk-off single, which sent the U.S. onto Los Angeles for the semifinals, and subsequently gave ESPN a huge ratings boom this weekend. Here's your highlight....The U.S. and Venezuela play...

The Image That Will Cause Mike Francesa’s Untimely Death

WHO CAHHHHHHHHHHZ ABOUT THE WBC!?!? YOU THINK JETAH CAHHHHHHHZ?! (David Wright’s a pussy / Yankees have 26 World Championships / Where’s my chicken francese / AHHHHHHHHH)

The Offical Rules of Fan Free Agency

When the A-Rod saga broke, I felt a little bit of relief. Relief you ask? Well relief, because over a year ago I made a decision, one that at the time was tough to make. I was going to opt-out of the New York Yankees. I was no longer going to be a fan, I was no longer going to religiously watch the YES Network, I was no longer going to defend the play by play antics of John Sterling...

HoJo a Hit As Rickey Will Man First

It seems it's official. Howard Johnson will take over as hitting coach for the Mets. Rickey Henderson will join the coaching staff tonight, assuming HoJo's old spot as first-base coach. Earlier today, I had this to say on the decision: For my money, it doesn't make much sense to hand Down's job to Rickey without any prior experience as a full-time coach. HoJo...

We Beat Puerto Rico Last Night

Team USA rallied in the bottom of the ninth to win an elimination game over Puerto Rico in the WBC last night. When you're done questioning why Team Puerto Rico isn't just part of Team USA we suggest you check out this clip of David Wright's walk-off hit and the ensuing celebration.

David Wright, Possibly A Superhero

(posted by One More Dying Quail)Of all the great things Joe Morgan has said through the years, the one from the eighth inning of tonight's Yankees-Mets game might be my favorite.Picture it...David Wright on third, Moises Alou at the plate. Alou lifts a fly to right, Wright tags and scores, Joe suggests he might have left the base early...nothing out of the ordinary.Until the...

A Year Ago On This Night I Was Jumping For Joy!

If you thought I was going to let January 29th come and go without recalling what happened a year ago on this very night, than you don't know me very well. David Wright - "We're going to welcome him with open arms. When I think of an ace, I think of a guy who can get you a win every five days. There's only a handful of those guys out there - there's not many...

Maybe They Do Care

( REUTERS/Scott Audette)The other day I questioned whether the Team USA players really cared about the WBC. Well, what I actually said was that they "probably don't give a damn" about the tournament. That still might be true, but they sure have me fooled with the effort they put forth in tonight's game against Puerto Rico...

Rick Ankiel Mania and the "Other" Comeback Story

I just finished watching my third straight Mets/Cardinals game at Busch. And instead of spewing unfiltered venom all over the keyboard after another absolutely brutal Mets loss, I'm going to say nice things about the Cardinals. Specifically, I'm going to talk about my new man crush on Rick Ankiel (it's part of my therapy). You know how as a fan, even a fairly insane...

New York State of Mind

Nearly $350 million in payroll between the New York Yankees and the cross town, Mets. The result? No October baseball in the city of New York. No Johan, no A-Rod, no Jeter, and no David Wright. The Yanks aren't headed to the postseason for the first time in 13 years and for the second consecutive season the New York Mets played themselves out of the playoffs in the final month...

Figgy could be the longman...

Nelson Figueroa was poised to be the hero of the Puerto Rican team had it not been for the heroics of David Wright. Team USA had the Puerto Rican starter, Jonathan Sanchez ( Giants) on the ropes. In just 2 2/3 innings they had already scored three earned runs on five hits and two walks. Figgy entered the game in the third with two outs and two on, he finished off the inning without...

David Wright on stepping up his game............

A lot of people are bad mouthing David Wright saying he better step up his game. David Wright has been one of the few staples in the lineup. Before Carlos Delgado had this serge and before Carlos Beltran had even 20 HRs.Has he has bad games in the last 3? Yes, but know one is perfect. He made a bad error in the ninth that kept the Nationals alive in last night's game. Thank God...
