The Warriors just drafted Marco Belinelli from Italy...another no-name draft pick from da Bay. The biggest news was the Jason Richardson trade, but I think it'll work out ok. All I know is that da thizz nation betta keep rollin' in da Bay, Italian style!!!!

Bad trade for them. And it seems like they want to trade Ellis? What are they thinking. If it aint broke don't fix just practice harder!

I don't know, JRich was a bit overrated. We loved him too much

Bad trade? Hardly. J Rich is a waste of talent. Doesn't have that inner desire to get to the rim. He'll never be a superstar. Wright is so long and crafty around the rim. And he can run with their tempo. They better not trade Ellis or I will be pissed.
    • TheTruth
But Wright can't finish outside of 4 feet and is a horrible free throw shooter, like Andris Beidrins level of bad

They made this trade in hopes of getting all the right pieces to make a run at KG. If they are not able to land KG then they will have cut cap space and will now be able to resign both Monta and Biedrins. And hopefully Matt Barnes as well. Not to mention Baron is going to ask for an extension.
    • TheTruth
That's a valid point, because they do have a ton of people to resign, don't forget about Air France (Mickeal Peitrus). Plus, the JRich move really helped the cap

You gotta be happy with Brandan Wright, that guy's not going to be a bad player in a few years I think. As for that Italian guy....who knows, you were probably saying the same thing when they drafted Biedrins...he turned out pretty good, mostly on the defensive end. The warriors/mavericks series was one of my favorites all time...it definitely made the playoffs for me.

I agree Wright can run and play this style of basketball, it just concerns me that he's pretty weak and can't score outside of the key. He's a lot like Biedrins

believe me, i'm as skeptical as can be when it comes to the warriors - have lived through too many todd fuller-chris washburn-tellis frank-joe smith drafts to be optimistic...but belinelli looks legit to me. 5-yr pro in the top league in italy, went for 25 on the U.S. in the world championships. i think he could be our ginobili. runs the floor, can knock down shots, has the savvy euro floor game.
and i think b wright, monta, biedrins, and foyle are en route to minnesota for KG.
    just a thought...

That's really a win now type of attitude, dropping three young players in Monta, Biedrins, and Wright for the aging KG. I still think he's one of the best players, but without Monta and JRich, who are the guards going to be. Pietrus is a free agent, keep that in mind.
  • I'm italian and I'll tell you that I remember one game against Rome where Belinelli did 21 points in 7 minutes, I also remember when he won the italian championship; he started playing professional when he was only 16 years old, in that year he made five points every game in the Euorelague (the most important competition in Europe). He'll become like Kobe, he's ready, he can play, he did 26 points against USA, I also think that is better than Bargnani. Believe to Mullin, he'll play so good.

Alright, I'm just always skeptical taking a relatively unknown foreign player that early in the draft

Jay Bilas made a good point about the Italian league during ESPN's draft coverage after the Warriors selected Belinelli. He said that the really good Euroleagues (one of which is Italy) are below the NBA, but better than college. So in essence, Golden State is getting a prospect who was not just a star in the NCAA, but a star in a league that was better than the NCAA. Sounds like a good decision to me.
    • TheTruth
That was a good point, if its true. That's the thing with foreign players, most of us have never seen them play and therefore have nothing to judge them on besides the opinions of "experts", who have blown a couple calls for sure (Darko, not a bad player, but not a top 3 pick either).
