Mike Stoops butthurt about losing recruiting battle to ASU

Mike Stoops has saved his job with 1 signature win each of the past two seasons. Two years ago it was the California game, and this year it was defeating the Dennis Dixon-less Oregon Ducks. He'll be gone soon enough because now he's losing the recruiting battle in Arizona to the resurgent ASU Sun Devils and Dennis Erickson. So, because he's getting his tail whipped, he decided to play the academic card.

"Each school has to recruit to their school and what kind of requirements they (have)," Stoops said. "Arizona State has turned into a JC, and we're a four-year college. According to all the players, they say it's easier to go to school there, easier to get in." Stoops laughed. "I thought we all had the same requirements." Unfortunately for Stoops, according to the BCS statistics, NCAA academic indicators for athletes in school - the Academic Progress Rate - show Arizona football with a score of 883, well below the 925 standard. Arizona State is at 926.

If any schools can claim the academic card, its UCLA, Cal, and Stanford. That's it.

Maybe ASU fires him and he goes back to OU as DC. Would love that.

Whoops, I meant AZ. Not ASU.
