The standard equation to win games was definitely in play on Saturday night. Win the turnover battle + run the ball + stop their run + stout defense = win. OK, so we got too many penalties, and didn't get more than one third down conversion, and we didn't take advantage of Roy Helu Jr's biggest run of the night, and countless other offensive woes crept in the whole game. This game's pace was controlled by Nebraska and our defense had one of the best efforts I have seen from the Blackshirts all year. It's like they've been getting better and better every game. Could this game have been any more opposite of the debacle against the Sooners last year? Bob Stoops has never had an Oklahoma team score this few points. And it's been eleven years since the Sooners haven't scored a touchdown in a game. In the biggest crowd ever to watch an OU-NU match, the defense stood as tall as I have seen them yet. This was epic defense, and it reminds me of Bo Pe...

The simple fact is that I heart Roy Helu. He...

Nebraska fans have had plenty to worry about, if they wanted this year. While the whole offense has been a concern, specifically the health of Roy Helu has been the barometer for how well the offense will perform. When Helu is limited the whole offense is limited. Because of those limitations, there's also some concern about relying on the defense too much. The 87 snaps against...

Nebraska Not Great, But Good Enough to Contend in Big 12 North

by Terrance HarrisFiled under: Nebraska, Big 12The resemblance to the old Blackshirt defense is there, but make no mistake -- this isn't your father's Nebraska Cornhuskers. Still, in this current cycle where parity and mediocrity have met to transform the mightiest of college football programs into mere mortals, these Cornhuskers are good enough to be part of the Big 12...

Just Good Enough

This week's game was going to be the ultimate barometer of where the Huskers stood in their second season. Going into the season, it looked like the toughest game on the schedule. Even if the Sooners aren't the same team they were a year ago, they still recruit well, are coached well, and have no reason to fear Nebraska. This was the real test of what Nebraska could do...
