TEAMS: Buffalo Bills, Penn State Nittany Lions
Our PSU correspondent Alison writes in with her report from Happy Valley.
In a relatively uneventful game, Penn State fans finally saw improvement from the offensive line and the running game in Penn State’s 31-6 win over Temple. Evan Royster had a big game, running for 138 yards and one TD, all on the day where his #22 jersey, shared with Heisman Trophy winner John Cappelletti, was the most worn by fans in the crowd. The theme at Beaver Stadium was favorite jersey day and the top 10 jerseys were revealed at halftime. I sported #31 for Paul Posluszny which came in the top 5. Daryll Clark’s #17 came in 2nd, and Derrick Williams’ #2 at 3rd.
The defense looked good again, preventing Temple from getting into the end zone and allowing just 2 field goals. Sean Lee went out in the 4th quarter holding his knee, but apparently it’s not a serious injury. He should be on the field next week along with Navarro Bowman returning from his groin injury. Josh Hull had another good game with a career high 13 tackles.
The Nittany Lion team on the field yesterday didn’t look like national title contenders, but hopefully that team will show up in the vengeance game against Iowa on Saturday night. With a white-out in the stands, I’m expecting a more intense crowd to come out for the Lions’ first real test. And I sure won’t miss those noon kickoffs.
