Positve Players
Many Players that are highly sawed after out of high school have promblems adjusting to the college level. Players that develop good relationships with there coaches adjust farley fast. The high school football level and college level shifts fast. The game is much faster, the players is bigger stronger and they have a sense of hunger.Savannah state tigers freshman Joe Myles made that adjustment with the help of Defensive Line Coach Corey McCloud.Coach McCloud was the coach that help Myles come to Savannah State. When ask about Myles, McCloud responded by saying " he was hungry. He call everyday to ask when was camp going to start. He was exciting to transition from high school football to college. When we talk to Myles about his relationship with coach McCloud he said " Coach is funny, he one of those coaches you love to be around. His criticism is one you should value." Myles said one of his favor things coach McCloud says to the players is " If you not here for the money what are you here for." I ask Myles what does that mean for him. " To me it means alot. Where I'm from money gets you from dying to living. It means if your not looking to get where your from to where you need to be. Its means to get my family out the situation and rebulid. Myles Is from New Orleans and so is Coach McClould so they relate alot. McCloud has departed from coaching with the tigers so Myles will be looking for another coach to related to.
In a personnal conversation with Myles I ask him what is one thing he would change about his ability. In a very happy manner with a huge smile Myles told me nothing. " I'm not tall,i'm not the fastest, I'm not the strongest but on the field I'm the smartest player, I would like to say". Myles ask me why so many NFL scouts look at tall player when theres guys like him that does not have the size to be this huge NFL standout but can help a team win and contribute to a succesful defensive line. I answer him " its just the way the NFL is changing"'. Myles laughed and told me "watch me make the NFL change there minds"'
