Why go to Alabama in the SEC in 2006 when you can go take the Michigan Wolverines in 2007? This deal is DONE. Bye Heisman candidates and bye job in Morgantown. A Petrino stepping stone if I ever saw one.

  • I think that Rich Rodriguez's decision to leave West Virginia is certainly good for his family and his financial advisor. The Big Ten is certainly a storied conference as is Michigan with its legacy. However, we are living in the era of parity where so many conferences and schools get television monies and exposure to lure quality athletes to schools; and, while Rodriguez has shown an ability to adjust his schemes based on his talent level, I think the spread option offense will always come up short against an athletic team that tackles well (the only coach in WVU history to have undefeated seasons in Morgantown was Rodriguez's coach, Don Nehlen- a protege of Bo Schembechler). Michigan still have their work cut out for them against Ohio State and Tressel, not to mention the other schools of the Big Ten Conference and outside of it. I guess it is a bit ironic to hire the coach of the other school with a Mounaineer as its mascot. Utlimately, Bill Martin should be replaced by WVU's Ed Pastilong- that would cut out the middleman. GO MOUNTAINEERS (the ones in Morgantown).
