Ever have to go to work and deal with someone you can't stand? Someone, maybe your boss, who just makes your life miserable day in and day out for months on end. They talk down to you in a condescending "you're stupid" kind of way. Do you remember how good it felt when you showed up and he/she/it had been fired? This has happened to me numerous times and let me tell you, it's very liberating. Work suddenly becomes fun again. Your office/bar/wherever transforms into a happy place with a bunch of happy workers fraternizing and getting the job done with smiles on their faces. This is what the Giants camp is going to be like next week. Both Eli Manning and Tom Coughlin have got to love the fact that Jeremy Shockey (Goldilocks from now on) will no longer be part of their routine. Goldilocks was a bully to his teammates, to his coach, and recently to the Giants front office. When Goldilocks didn't get his porridge just the way he wanted it, he threw a temper tantrum and that usually involved somebody on the team being chucked underneath the bus of public opinion. The Giants are indeed a happier organization after showing Shockey the door but they are not the only ones grinning after this transaction. The Saints are smiling. Goldilocks is smiling. Everyone's showing some teeth. It's not often that a trade works out well for everyone involved. After living in New Orleans for years, I can tell you a few things about the folks who live in the Big Easy. First of all, they like to eat. They also like to drink? whenever and wherever they can. Any excuse and they throw a huge party (I realize that this goes along with eating and drinking). When the Saints are winning they are one of the aforementioned excuses to eat, drink, and party. They are going to love Shockey in New Orleans. He's a big attention seeking loudmouth? he plays with his heart, not his head. People who live in NOLA tend to follow their hearts through life. They may not be the movers and shakers of our country, but they sure know how to smell the roses. They're passionate for life in their own way and Shockey will be an instant superstar. Saints fans embrace turmoil, they thrive on drama. It makes Sunday's party at the Superdome all that more entertaining. Goldilocks is happy in his new digs as well. The Saints already had an explosive offense. Now they have a combustible, talented, rock star playing tight end to compliment Reggie Bush, Drew Brees, Duece McAallister, and Marques Colston. Don't let last season fool you: the Saints are downright dangerous- if they can improve on defense then the Super Bowl isn't an unrealistic goal. Shockey is lucky to have landed on such a great team. The Saints are lucky to have gotten their hands on such a talented addition to their team. Did I forget to mention that Goldilocks and Sean Payton can continue their love affair? I guess I didn't. Once the Giants won the Superbowl, Eli earned the right to not have to look over his shoulder in the huddle. The same goes for Coach Coughlin. Why should they have to come to work everyday and deal with a demanding diva? Did I mention that the diva is 6?5? and weighs 250? Yup, you can bet your bottom dollar Eli's happy that Goldilocks is gone. Usually once your jerk boss is fired, he's replace by another jerk in no time. That fun work feeling fades and you're stuck right where you were a few weeks before. There's just a new face talking down to you. I don't see this happening to Eli. Divas the size of Shockey are hard to come by? especially ones with good hands that can run so fast.
