PLAYERS: Mark Jackson

Steve Kerr has said that he is going to take his time in hiring a new coach. So it's a perfect time for us to postulate as to who he might hire, and more importantly who we want him to hire. Here are some names that have surfaced from different papers around the country (In no particular order) or who are available. Kerr has said that it will be a name with lots of experience so that should cut down this list a bit. Kurt Rambis (Lakers asst and former head coach 24-13 record) Vinny Del Negro (former Suns player) Tyrone Corbin (UT assistant) Paul Westphal (former head coach) Paul Silas (former head coach) Byron Scott (current NO head coach) Avery Johnson (former Dallas head coach) Sam Vincent (former Bobcats head coach) Dan Majerle (former Suns player) Flip Saunders (Detroit head coach) Mark Jackson (Former player Jeff Van Gundy (Former coach) Who do you think is the best fit for the Suns? Someone off this list or someone totally different? I think Avery J...

  • Steve Kerr did a recent interview and it sounds like there is a very good chance of Eddie Johnson and Dan Majerle teaming up, with EJ as head coach, Majerle as his assistant.

I've also heard Tom Thibodeau's name thrown out there a few times.

    We'll see what happens.
  • How about Dick Davey? I hear he needs a job.
  • I think he is the new AARP spokesman
  • Ah, yes. Bring in the guy that first discovered Steve Nash. He's not that old. I mean, Jerry West hired Hubie Brown, didn't he? Hubie Brown was older than Dick Davey is now! :-D
  • Avery Johnson????
  • I don't think Avery is the right fit for Phoenix.

I like him alot, I think he's a great coach but he just isn't what we're looking for.
    In my opinion.
  • Thats a good point.
  • IsiahThomas??? Lol
  • If you mean Avery is not a good fit because he is more defensive minded and your team constantly gets beat for not playing defense then yeah Avery is a horrible fit. Sorry to have to be the on to tell you this Sun fan but sine you traded for Shaq you have to change your style to a more half court defensive mindset and Avery would be the man for that. With Shaq you can't play that up and down game you are accustomed to. That is why D'Antoni left cause he is a up and down coach that is going to play a run and gun offense. Either go defense or blow it up. You are done Suns.

The NBA Finals On ABC, Now With More Kimmel!

I've been a big fan of Jimmy Kimmel for quite some time now, but I'm not sure if I want him permeating into my NBA Finals broadcasts. Well that's going to be the case for at least Game One as ESPN/ABC has given the late night host a 30-minute spot at 8pm before airing NBA Countdown. While it might be a fun bit, it's a far cry from how ESPN felt about Kimmel last...

Basketball Injuries: The Pain of a Sprained Ankle

Caught the tail end of the New Jersey Nets @ Miami Heat third quarter. With 0.3 tenths of a second left in the quarter, New Jersey Nets swingman Antoine Wright landed badly on his right ankle (which may effectively keep him out of action for the next few weeks based on the fact that he had to be carried to the locker room by a couple of his teammates). Watching Wright lying...

Kidd: 6th All-Time in Assists

You know that you have been watching the game of basketball for quite some time when players that you grew up with (When Kidd broke into the league in 94', I was 18) start climbing to the top of several NBA career lists. One such veteran is New Jersey Nets point guard Jason Kidd who is amidst his 15 season in the NBA. ESPN.com reported that Kidd "entered Wednesday night...

Davidson's Baseline Box Inbounds Play

I took in the ESPN game of the week, Davidson against Duke tonight. Great atmosphere at Cameron Indoor. Still on my list of things to do in my bucket list, Cameron Indoor Duke versus UNC. But as for tonight's game, Duke did a solid job doubling and crowding Stephen Curry most of the night (and Curry still ended up with 29). The Wildcats had one last gasp in the last 5 minutes...

Jason Kidd Moves Into 4th Place All-Time in Assists

Dallas. The Kidd watch is back. With a nifty pass to Dallas Mavericks teammate Josh Howard in the first quarter of their game against the Portland Trailblazers, Jason Kidd passed legend Oscar Robertson (9,887) for fourth place on the all-time assist ladder. Yahoo.com reports that Robertson was the career leader in assists when he hung up his sneakers in 1974.Up next is Kidd's...

Your NBA Announcing Schedule For The Week Of 11/24

For some reason, networks seem to be picking one or two teams to highlight each week. Last week it was the Blazers and Bulls, and this week it's the 76ers with three appearances on National TV. There's nothing wrong with that approach, in fact it's rather enjoyable considering the Cavaliers, Lakers and Celtics will be featured the rest of the year. Here are the rest of your games...
