Suspcious Holding Calls in West Virginia- Pitt Game Raise Eyebrows

Two suspect holding calls against Pitt gave West Virgina life in a game where they did not deserve it. Was is just a coincidence that two huge plays for Pitt were called back on two very questionable calls? Let's hope so, because it looked like the referees were trying everything they could to keep West Virginia in this game.

I wonder how much WVU paid off those refs, and if it was enough. I really hope they get fired... or "sign their checks over to charity."

never, in over 30 years of watching college football, have i ever seen such a bltant attempt by the refs to determine the outcome of a game. both of the holding calls were so pathetic that the flags were actually thrown AFTER the TD and the first down was made. Inside job? No doubt about it. This was the BCS powers trying to keep their biggest nightmare scenario from happening: both WV and Missouri losing.

Ridiculous officiating. I thought they used there older, more experienced, top officials. If they did, I would hate to see the less experienced. In 41 years I have never seen such blatant disregard for the game..................... I hope someone in a position in the NCAA takes note and takes care of this, this is a problem. A big problem.

Yall won quit bitching!!

This poorly timed bad officiating should not be a surprise to anyone watching a WVU game. I watched the Marshall WVU game earlier this year. Marshall outplayed WVU the first half of the game and was leading. The second half was a different story. The referees decided it was time to take over and made three straight penalty calls on the Marshall offense on their first or second possession of the second half. These travesties don't only happen in WVU games though. The previous two years Loiusville had gained from some favorable officiating (I guess not enough this year though).

Lol ya'll are going to bitch about one game. Look at the game film on Glenn Dorsey he is getting held just about every play and i think it got called maybe once this season. OSU is going down.

Newsflash: Someone is getting held on most downs in college football. Whether or not they call it usually depends on a) if the zebras see it b) how blatant it is c) had the player not been held, if the play would be drastically different.

I would like to see how many times LSU is going to be called for holding Vernon Gholston. It's the only way that you can stop the man.

or how many times OSU gets called for holding Dorsey.

;)

I'll keep a tally for both sides. ;-) How many times it's called, and not called...

i'm not sure there's a device that can count that high.

:P

They need to impliment a penalty system for bad ref's. How about this, Refs make between 30 and 100K a season. Break that down per game and charge $1000.00 per bad call. I bet you they think twice about it.

hey buckeye, top paid college football officials make about $1,200 a game, multiply that by the 14 games they usually do on average per season and do the math, you're completely off with your information

Well, then maybe deducting 1,000 dollars per bad call is about right.

yeah that's realistic

Wow. I was being sarcastic too. Don't get your panties in a twist. It's just ref's salaries we're talking about here.

each play and call is repeatedly looked at after each game and on into the next season, college football officials of all conferences are critiqued after each game and penalized by getting games taken away. The dedication it takes to be an official on this level is immense, so keep that in mind before pointing any fingers.

You sound like you know from experience. So what size white pants do you wear? Do you find vertical black and white stripes to be flattering/slimming?

just have more awareness being an ice hockey official myself

So is that you profession in the United States, or Canadia?

Former Soviet Republic, but am American
