In by far the biggest upset of the Pac-10 this season, the Oregan State Beavers beat the #3 ranked SC Trojans. This was definitely the most exciting game I've seen all season. The Beavers got off to a huge start, leading the Trojans 30-10 at one point.
As usual, the Trojans came from behind to stage a huge comeback. With seconds left at the Oregon State goal line, John David Booty threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Steve Smith, who had a huge game for the Trojans. Since the Trojans were down eight, however, they needed to convert a 2 point conversion. Booty dropped back to pass, and his pass attempt was batted down at the goal line one of the Beavers' defensive lineman. Once this happened, the fans all rushed the field! The Beavers beat the TROJANS!
This means a lot in terms of both the Pac-10 and the BCS. Cal and USC are now tied for first place in the Pac-10. Cal killed OSU earlier this year, and should have a good shot at beating SC on November 18th, although the game is at SC. This will, however, probably push the Trojans out of the top-10, given the weakness of their schedule thus far. Because SC lost, even if the Bears beat them on the 18th, it won't be as big of a deal as if the Trojans were undefeated.
