Rumors have it that the Bucs may be close to adding running back Cadillac Williams to the active roster. The Bucs will have to make the decision by Wednesday to add him to the active roster. If they don't, they will have to sit him for the rest of the season. Williams suffered a torn patellar tendon against the Carolina Panthers on September 30th of last season. He missed the rest of the season, and started 2008 on the physically unable to perform list. He has been practicing witht the team the past few weeks, and some say he looks good enough to get a shot on the roster.
Jon Gruden said Monday that Williams may get his shot again this year. "We staged a couple of drills for Carnell Williams to get hit [with pads on in practice on Monday], and he responded to it. It's exciting," said Gruden. "I've said that for a long time. It's almost like Christmas is here. Christmas is Wednesday, I hope. We'll talk to our trainers here, but if my eyes don't deceive me I think he's got a chance to be a player for our team this year, which is exciting. He's a very good back, and we have the film to prove that. We want him to be a big part of our organization, so if he's healthy he's going to play, and if he's not he won't play."
Williams was the teams first-round pick with the 5th overall selection back in 2005.
