Zombie Nation:
Are the Iowa Hawkeyes developing into the 2002 Ohio State Buckeyes? The jury is still out, as there are a few teams that would have to lose for Iowa to slip into the BCS Championship Game. Notes: Ranking these teams isn't quite so tedious as it was three weeks ago, or even last week. With eight weeks in the books, we can finally get a good read on which teams are for real. Alabama may not really deserve to get bumped out of the top spot, as I think Tennessee is a decent team. But Texas came to play (35-0 at the half) against a Missouri team that came in with a winning record. I still don't believe Tim Tebow was ready to return for Florida. He's looked terrible the last two games, throwing two pick-six interceptions against MSU. Down the rankings, I think Iowa is getting a raw deal by the real polls. They have a great resume, but no one seems to care. Other than the top spots, there wasn't much unexpected movement. Miami(FL) flopped big time against Clemson. South Florida is falling apart without Matt Grothe. And BYU is probably the biggest poser in the whole thing. One final thought, on USC: the Trojans are not that good! USC is sitting pretty at No. 4 in the human polls this week, after nearly getting punked -- again -- by Oregon State. It really bothers me that USC is being talked about as a potential national title contender.
