South Carolina defeated Nebraska 30-13 Monday, but the story inside the story was the story of Alshon Jeffery. So maybe more like a chapter. Whatever. I just wanted to see how many times I could write the word "story" in a single clause. Here's what Alshon was able to achieve on Monday. Continued his rather portly look: Had a fantastic catch for a touchdown on a Hail Mary just before halftime: Enraged Bo Pelini: Ejected in the third quarter, finishing with four catches for 148 yards and one touchdown (sadly, three minutes of searching yielded no pictures of the ejection, so here's one of Alshon and the defensive back he traded helmet punches with): Won the MVP award (as you can see, the Capitol One Bowl people spared no expense on that trophy): Daydreamed about eating everything during his final few hours in Orlando:

No. 21 Huskers are humbled in 1st Big Ten season

Nebraska was the popular pick to end its inaugural Big Ten season with a Rose Bowl berth. After losses in three of its last five games for a 9-4 finish, the Cornhuskers might not make the final Top 25. The No. 21 Huskers' 30-13 loss to No. 10 South Carolina in the Capital One Bowl on Monday cost them a third straight 10-win season. It also started a long offseason of hand-wringing...

Nebraska Cornhuskers Early 2012 Outlook

After a bummer of a bowl game for Nebraska, it’s time to look ahead to what 2012 could off the Huskers. After a season filled with many ups and downs, it is going to be a tough off-season, especially with how it ended. Hopefully they use this game as motivation to work harder and improve. The Huskers schedule will not be any easier next season. A non conference schedule has...

South Carolina’s Jeffery named Capital One MVP in spite of ejection

South Carolina wide receiver Alshon Jeffery has a reputation that precedes him. One of the country’s most talented, and raw wideouts, Jeffery is also a hothead who tends to let his temper get the best of him at the worst possible times. Jeffery certainly didn’t make today an exception, as he turned in a solid performance in South Carolina’s 30-13 victory over...

Turning the page to 2012

In case you missed it yesterday the Capital One Bowl went something like this: "Damn." Nebraska, probably the fourth best team in the Big Ten, didn't get pounded by (probably) the fourth best team in the SEC. That was the good news. The bad news was that the Huskers decided to chain smoke exploding cigars in the second half, winding up with more penalty yards than offense...

No. 21 Nebraska can't overcome miscues in Cap One

Nebraska coach Bo Pelini stressed the importance of his team avoiding in the Capital One Bowl the same self-inflicted mistakes that held back the Cornhuskers in their first year in the Big Ten. Instead, Nebraska's postseason was much like its regular season. Alshon Jeffery had four catches for 148 yards and a touchdown before getting ejected for fighting, and No. 10 South Carolina...

Mistakes Doom Huskers Against South Carolina

It wasn't clear whether Nebraska would be able to compete with a team like South Carolina. The good news for the Huskers was that they found that they could physically for most of the day. The bad news was that they still came up well short due to a lot of sloppy play. Critical plays at critical times doomed Nebraska. ...
