At this point, we’ve basically run out of ways to say “Alabama is really good at this whole football thing.” That tends to happen after a team wins three titles in four years (let alone does it in the current climate of college football), finishes with three of the last four top ranked recruiting classes, and just graduated a class that won a staggering 50 games. So yeah, I guess what we’re trying to say is that it ain’t bad to be Nick Saban these days. Yet over the past few weeks, the rich have incredibly, somehow got richer. That’s because in addition to all the on the field accolades, the program also just got a major upgrade off the field too, with a sparkling new $9 million strength and conditioning facility that’s just about ready for opening. According to reports the facility is for all Alabama student-athletes, and features just about every amenity a 19-year-old athlete could ever dream of (Including yes, even a juice and nutrition bar. Only at Alabama, huh?). Regar...

Alabama offers 8th Grader a Scholarship

Nick Saban offered Dylan Moses, an eighth grader, a full-ride football scholarship to the University of Alabama. Moses is 6’1″ and 215 pounds. This is ridiculous. Moses will not enter college until 2017. Moses will be a Freshman at University Lab High School in Baton Rouge. He is 14. Moses’s father told AL.com, “We got the invitation to come to Alabama’s Junior...

Alabama offers scholarship to an eighth-grader

It’s no secret that as things stand, the Alabama Crimson Tide are the top program in college football right now. And if Nick Saban has his way, that should extend well into the 2020 season. Alabama, LSU have both offered a scholarship to 8th-grader Dylan Moses

Eventually, doctors in the maternity ward are going to be asking college coaches like Nick Saban and Les Miles to give mothers a little space when their sons are coming out of the womb. Yes, that’s an exaggeration. But how young is too young for an athlete to be recruited to play a sport in college? For many coaches, the answer to that question is younger than 13 years old. On...

8th Grader Alabama Offered Scholarship Deserves It

When I first heard about Alabama offering an 8th grade kid a scholarship I thought they were nuts. It reminded me of Lane Kiffin pulling a similar stunt not too long ago, except I thought Nick Saban was a genius and not crazy. As it turns out the man is a crazy genius. Calling the 8th grader, Dylan Moses, a division I college prospect may be a bit presumptuous and early...
