IntheOT:
There was no shortage of entertainment in the first bowl game of the season with Arizona taking on Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl. The Wildcats fell behind 21-0 early in the first quarter which caused two of their own players to get into with eachother on the sidelines. Check out Tevin Hood and Cody Ippolito throw some punches:Watch this video on YouTube Embedded with WP YouTube Lyte. You would think that would indicate some team chemistry issues that could have been responsible for the early 21-0 lead; with things unlikely to get better. Think again as this moment could have been just what the team needed to get fired up as the Wildcats would storm all the way back to tie the game at 28-28 just before the half.Once again in the second half the Wolfpack built up a large lead like they did in the first half. Up 18 in the 4th quarter did not faze this Wildcat team who showed tremendous heart with a great offense and fortunate onside kick to complete the improbable come back scoring 2 touchdowns in the final minute of the game. Sure these two teams are not juggernauts in the NCAA, which is quite obvious based on their atrocious defense. But, it’s bowl season what else do you expect until the BCS games which outside of the National title game and maybe KState/Oregon are not that intriguing. Most fans including myself would rather see an absolute shoot out instead of inept offensive teams that put you to sleep. And it’s also great seeing these kids get extremely jacked up for a national title TV appearance. Nobody can question the effort and heart from both squads in this game.

After falling into a 21-0 hole to start the 2012 Gildan New Mexico Bowl, the Arizona Wildcats looked like they would have been just about anywhere other than Albuquerque Saturday morning. It’s not clear if the defense ever showed up. Somehow, though, Arizona still managed to come away with a 49-48 win over Nevada in arguably the wildest game of the season.

Arizona Defensive Players fight each other on the sideline
It’s unclear what prompted the dispute between the two Arizona players, perhaps it was the fact that the Arizona Wildcats gave up 21 points in the first quarter. It’s likely that we will never know. Either way, punches were exchanged between the two, and one of them was taken to the lockerroom afterwards. The commentators say that it was a “long season” for the Wildcat...

Wildcat Family Fight
The Gildan New Mexico Bowl didn't have a great audience, and I'm sure the TV audience wasn't much better, but what a way to get the bowl season going.
Not only did Arizona rally from 17 points down in the fourth quarter to win 49-48, but down 21-7 in the first quarter nose tackle Tevin Hood and true freshman linebacker Cody Ippolito had to be separated by teammates...
