TUCSON, Ariz. -- There's still a little more than a month until Arizona reports for fall camp, but there have already been depth-chart developments, as one of the team's deepest positions, wide receiver, has taken a hit. Junior receiver Tyler Slavin announced over the weekend that he has decided to leave the program. Slavin, a key figure in last year's season-ending 49-48 win over Nevada in the New Mexico Bowl, said on Twitter that he is no longer playing at Arizona. In the tweet, Slavin, a 6-foot-2, 200-pound wide receiver, also said, "it's crazy how they treat you here." Arizona team spokeswoman Molly O'Mara said Slavin has left the team voluntarily. He has since been removed from the online roster. For whatever reason, UA will be without a reliable receiver. Last season, Slavin played in 13 games and caught 22 passes for 224 yards. His only touchdown was Arizona's final score the bowl game in Albuquerque, a game the Wildcats won a play later on a two-point conversion. Slavin looked primed to take on a bigger role this season in part because Austin Hill, last year's breakout star at receiver, is out for the year with an ACL injury. It's not clear when he will return. Sophomore David Richards does return, as do redshirt freshmen Trey Griffey and Clive Georges. Arizona also will be helped by the return of 6-foot-4 Terrence Miller, who has been moved to tight end after being granted a medical redshirt despite playing in four games last season. And the athletic Richard Morrison, who has played receiver, quarterback and now defensive back, could be moved back to wideout if the need arises.
