Army hosts Northern Illinois in its home opener at Michie Stadium on Saturday, and the Black Knights will have one thing foremost on their minds - creating turnovers and not giving up any.
Army (0-1) lost 22 of 36 fumbles in 2011 and senior quarterback Trent Steelman kept that troubling trend going against the San Diego State Aztecs in the season opener a week ago. He threw two interceptions and lost a fumble, with two of the turnovers setting up scores in San Diego State's 42-7 victory.
The Black Knights were done in by the three turnovers and not forcing any. That dropped their record to 9-44 since the start of 2006 when on the short end of the turnover margin.
Northern Illinois (1-1) is the reigning Mid-American Conference champion and beat Army 49-26 last season.
