(Center Travis Frederick gives ceremonial first pour at the Lawry's Beef Bowl) Wisconsin made it 6-1 in their trips to the Rose Bowl.... Wait, that's not right... Ah, but it is. See, they made it 6-1 in the annual Lawry's Beef Bowl, an unofficial eating contest that takes place the week of the Rose Bowl each year since 1956. Bucky bested Stanford in a close battle, winning by eating 619 pounds of delicious Prime Rib as a team to their Pac-12 opponents' 602 pounds.  Now, let's just hope that it doesn't turn out on the field like it has the previous two trips, right? In the 2011 Rose Bowl the Badgers lost the Beef Bowl and the game, holding the trend true and then last season the Badgers bucked the trend by winning the Beef Bowl, but losing the game. The individual award for most beef eaten this year was a tie between two offensive linemen (who didn't see that coming) in the UW's reserve Dallas Lewallen and Stanford's freshman Joshua Gar...

Wisconsin continues Beef Bowl dominance

For the second consecutive year, Wisconsin's football team devoured its opponent not literally, thankfully on Friday night at the Lawry's Beef Bowl, an annual tradition between the two teams competing in the Rose Bowl. Much like years past, the carnivore carnage was colossal. According to official scorers...

Badgers stick together despite coaching chaos

LOS ANGELES If Charlie Partridge had his druthers, he wouldn't be leaving the University of Wisconsin in four days time. But sometimes, reality crashes down on the best laid plans, and important decisions must be made for the benefit of a man and his family. And so Partridge, the longest tenured assistant football coach at Wisconsin with five years on staff, will move with...

Badgers 2012 Year in Review: No. 4 - Ball Breaks Career TD Record

It seems like there's been a lot of negative stuff hovering around our countdown lately and unfortunately that was a major part of the story of Wisconsin athletics in 2012. Tale of two calls (McCabe & Hartman)

Speaking of bad calls, today, USA captain and Wisconsin Badgers defenseman Jake McCabe was kicked out of the game between the USA and Canada on this play. After watching the video numberous times, I can't find a penalty. In my opinion, McCabe was incorrectly given a two minute minor and a game misconduct for contact to the head. I don't see it. Do you? Today, the...

Leading the Transition

From losing an offensive line coach in week two to seeing a head coach depart after the season, Wisconsin and its offensive line have had every reason to quit. Thanks in part to junior captain Travis Frederick, they are playing some of their best football at the most important time.
